Just a few more minutes and they were setting sail.

Faris stood at the railing, surveying the docks as her crew worked on her orders. By now, they had made sure that everyone and everything that was to be dropped off in Dunwall had been. The cargo they were to bring back to Phoenicis and the Archipelago was packed up and ready for the voyage. All that was left were the passengers. Most were already on board, the fee for this trip paid in full.

And most of them were landlubbers, from the looks of things. They needed to rely on ships like hers that could get them across the ocean to wherever they were going. Faris did get a few seasoned travelers on these trips, however. They were usually easier to handle. Less whiny.

If she got another obnoxious noble like the woman from last week, she would be tempted to feed them to Syldra. Unfortunately, feeding people to one's dragon wasn't good for business, which was the reason why she had been refraining from doing so.

Sometimes, it was easier being a pirate than running a legit business.

Bad Girl

After a nice frolic in the Eastern Continent, it was time for Bad Girl to head home to Santa Destroy. Unfortunately, that meant a lot of distance to cover, and for some reason, this dumb-fuck of a world couldn't figure out how to set up a proper airplane system. Sure, there were airships and shit, but only about two of the cities had a proper airport. Most of the world was made up of nonsense places - which Bad Girl normally enjoyed - but that meant she needed to travel like a scrub.

Which turned out to be perfectly fine because sometimes she got some sweet rides. Like she was boarding a pirate ship now.

Not that the guy who she paid wanted to admit they were pirates. He stumbled over his words when she asked. She wasn't sure if they were supposed to keep it a secret or if that was a decision this one guy made, but he was doing a pretty fucking bad job at it either way.

Bad Girl's heels clicked on the wood as she boarded. There were a bunch of other people on board now, and a lot of them looked like they've never been on a boat before. Bad Girl, of course, had. She'd done assassinations on everything from fishing boats to cruise ships. That wasn't why she was here now though, so she didn't scope out a person to beat to death. Instead, she made herself over to the other side and peered over the railing, pondering if there might have been booze somewhere on board that she could swipe.

Faris didn't hope that this trip was a smooth one. It was either going to be smooth, or it wasn't. Simple as that. No hoping or praying to some deity was going to change that. It was up to the weather, the crew, the captain and the dragon that was currently underwater and out of sight. Once everyone was on board, she gave her orders - blunt and brief. She didn't mince words when she didn't have to.

Plank raised, sails unfurled, anchor hoisted. She took the helm. While she could've just given the job to one of her men, she liked being there, able to feel the ship as it rocked and swayed on the waves. And Syldra sometimes got antsy when it wasn't Faris guiding her; out of all the crew, it was the captain she grew up with who she trusted the most.

There was a slight lurch as the ship pulled out from Dunwall, but the wind was favorable today, carrying them away from the city without further help from the dragon. So far, so good. Nobody looked green around the gills. Not yet.

There must have been something intimidating about Bad Girl because no one bothered to approach her. No one even wanted to peer over the rails next to her, and that was something a lot of normal people enjoyed doing. It wasn't exactly something she understood - it was just a bunch of fucking water and all it did was get you wet or drowned you - but she was used to people being fascinated by the stupidest of things.

She must have looked really fucking terrifying that no one wanted to stand on either side of her for at least five foot.

She was fine with that though. The boat was moving now, and she heard people gasp and stumble as it pulled away from the dock. Bad Girl didn't do either. She would probably say she had sea legs but it was probably her typical drunken stupor that canceled out her wobbling on the deck.

With a sigh, Bad Girl pushed away from the railing. "Where's the booze in this joint?" she muttered under her breath. Were guests allowed inside? She should probably go ask, but they probably weren't. Pirates liked hiding their booty.

Heh. Booty.

But, she needed to do more than just stand there. She stopped one the sailors by grabbing his arm, though she gave him her sweet smile, as if she was the nice sweet girl her dress suggested she was. "Who's in charge of this ship?" she asked.

The man looked a little uncomfortable that she grabbed his arm like that, but he answered. "That'd be Cap'n Faris. Purple hair, standin' at the helm." There wasn't anyone else with purple hair on the deck right now. Most of the passengers were awkwardly trying to view the ocean surrounding them without falling over. One excited teenage girl was taking photos of it with her phone, as if she had never seen the ocean before today.

Instead of watching them, Faris was watching the horizon. It looked like there was a storm fast approaching them from the northwest. Nothing in the sky had suggested that anything of the sort would be coming in from that way. The more she studied it, the more she was sure that as unpredictable as the ocean could sometimes be, that dark splotch of thunderclouds and rain shouldn't be there.

"That ain't a normal storm," she said to one of her crew, who had come to stand beside her. Faris adjusted the ship's course, planning to get around that storm before it ended up in their path.

Bad Girl released the iron grip she had on the sailor's arm. "Thank you kindly," she said, sweetly, before moving towards the captain with a slight skip in her step. While she may have looked oblivious, she was already sizing the captain up. Being the ranked two assassin of the UAA for several years meant Bad Girl was pretty good at reading people - even the people who went through lengths to make sure one couldn't figure them out for what they were. Bad Girl could tell exactly what kind of person this captain was with a few quick glances, at least as far as combat went. If they duked it out, Bad Girl would win because she went for broke every time.

She made it to the captain, gazing out onto the ocean. Was that a storm coming? Oh, that would be a fucking fun good time.

"You got any booze?" she asked the captain, not looking at them. She kept her eyes on the forming storm. "You know, to drink before we all get murdered by that thing?"

Not that she actually thought they would be murdered. If there was any murder going on, she was likely to be the cause of it.

Now here was someone who wasn't afraid of the storm. Faris didn't look at them, but most of the other passengers were now just standing around and gawking at it, voicing their concerns. The captain only spared the woman a glance; she saw enough with just that. Clearly, this one wasn't like the others. This woman had strength to her.

"Aye. You'll find some below deck." That storm... Faris had gotten the ship past its trajectory, but it looked like it was changing course and picking up speed while it was at it. As if it wanted to meet them. That meant trouble. "Have an area set up down there for you lot. Drink your fill." As long as the woman wasn't causing problems, Faris didn't care what she did. The guest room was marked and some of her men were below deck handling their own duties, so it wasn't like anyone could go anywhere else, anyway.

She let out a sharp whistle, sending a command to Syldra. The dragon remained below the water, but there was a lurch as the ship suddenly picked up speed, causing many of the passengers to fall in surprise. A few of the crew went to help them. "May have to send these landlubbers and their weak legs down there, too," muttered Faris. If they couldn't keep their balance now, then they were going to be in the way if the storm managed to reach them.

Bad Girl watched the storm a while longer. She'd watched history channels enough to know that storms could be one hell of a son of bitch to deal with while on the sea. Bad Girl normally wasn't one the sea back home. She was a civilized individual who rode on airplanes when she needed to travel far. Even so, she was from California - born and bred. And, she knew that being near the ocean could be a dangerous thing.

"Oh sweet," she said. Fuck the storm. There was booze below deck. "Have fun with those fuckers and that," she said, indicating the storm as well as the other passengers on board. A storm that looked like that plus a set of passengers like the numb nuts she saw? Yeah, that was a combination that would lead to murder with her.

Of course, there were many things that would lead to murder with her.

She left the captain to go below deck where she found the guest area. Not many people had made their way there yet so she was able to snatch a couple of bottles before staking out the nicest table there. This was her spot now.

The woman had gone below deck, leaving Faris and her crew to handle the storm. It was clearly chasing them. While storms sometimes acted like they had minds of their own, they didn't go chasing ships like this with such ferocity. She figured that there was something out there causing the storm, and that was what was coming after them now.

Whatever it was, it remained hidden to her. Despite Syldra pulling the ship, the storm would soon be upon them. As it closed the distance, the waves grew uneven, rocking the ship. "Battle preparations!" Faris roared to her crew. "Guests off the deck now!" As her crew scrambled to follow her orders, readying the cannons and escorting the remaining passengers below deck, the captain gave the helm to the man standing beside her and strode to where she could face their pursuer.

Whether it be a creature of the deep or a vessel such as a submarine, she didn't take attacks on her ship lightly, especially when she had guests on board. The culprit would soon realize that attacking this ship was a painful mistake.

Bad Girl burped and wiped her mouth off with the back of her gloved hand. Unlike the rest of her outfit, her gloves didn't look like the soft delicate thing ladies wore. Instead they were baseball gloves, the sort wore by baseball players when they were batting. Because that was something she did. Batted people in the balls.

She slammed her bottle down on the table just as the rest of the guests were being ushered below deck. A lot of them seemed worried, which meant that storm was probably going to be a fucking mess. Just like she thought it was going to be.

Bad Girl pushed out of her chair and got up, walking across the distance to the door. The sailor protested as she pushed past him and out onto the deck again. Already the weather was showing signs of the storm catching up to them. They were probably all going to die.

Welp, wouldn't be the first time for her.

She went over to the captain, the swaying deck not bothering her in the slightest. Probably because she had already been drinking.

"So, what kind of fuckers are after us?" she asked, curiously, as she rested her bat on her shoulder. "Gotta be something fucking interesting, if they're out at sea like this." Out at ocean? Sea, ocean, same fucking difference.

Faris let out another whistle, telling Syldra to slow down and prepare to fight. No point in continuing this chase if they were about to be attacked anyway. The woman from before had appeared again, but she didn't tell her to go back downstairs. This one looked ready for trouble, unlike the rest of the landlubbers. If she could keep her footing and wanted to fight, then by all means, she could stay up here.

From the depths came a low rumble as the storm fell upon them, rocking the ship more and pelting them with rain. "A beastie, from the sounds of it," she replied. "Large one, too." A submarine would've kept some distance between them so it could fire on the ship at range. But this foe wasn't concerned about ranged attacks, nor it cared for personal space. It nudged the ship, then became silent.

Faris waited. Then she heard a shrill and rather girlish scream as her crew's greenhorn was snatched by a large tentacle that rose out of the water.

"Again?" she muttered under her breath. This lad was always getting into trouble. Several more tentacles appeared, surrounding the ship. "Attack!" Faris hollered to her crew, before casting Firaga on the tentacle that had the lad in its grasp. Pelted by intense flames, it dropped him; Syldra finally rose her head out of the water and caught him, delivering him safely back to the deck.

Oooh, a beastie. Bad Girl liked beasties. She was able to kill them without the general public flipping the fuck out over murder. That was the nature of humanity, after all. If it wasn't done to someone they were able to specifically relate to on a deep level, then they didn't think it was important. And, that was doubly so for her fellow Americans. In short, they were selfish and they sucked hard ass.

But, Bad Girl didn't have care who was being bashed in as long as she was doing the bashing. And, it looked like the pirates were going to be picking a fight right back with the thing, so she could bash all she wanted.

Tentacles burst out of the water, causing Bad Girl to frown. She didn't care about the dude who was potentially being hoisted to his death. She did, however, look at her bat then look at the tentacles and then back again.

"I don't suppose you have a gun," she asked the pirate captain. "My aim is shitastic in a good way." Because she wasn't going to swim out to these fucking things, even if she was sure she could take them out if she wanted to.
