"You can't hide in there forever!" hollered the voice on the other side of the thick metal door; its owner banged a fist against it repeatedly. "Open up!" Wes ignored it and turned to his companions in the room - his first two Pokemon, plus a number of their kin.

"Go," the Trainer said to them. Umbreon and Espeon didn't hesitate - despite everything that had happened to them in the past several months, they still had complete trust and confidence in him. And in the other Pokemon who made up their team, who would do everything in their power to protect him. There was a back door to the room, so the twins ushered their charges over to it. Their fellow Eeveelutions brought up the rear, enveloping their unevolved siblings and cousins within their sphere of protection.

As soon as they had all left and the back door was closed, Wes backed up from the door in front of him. Something strong was trying to bash it in, leaving a dent that increased in size and depth each time the door was struck. Today, he wasn't dealing with Cipher directly, although that meant little to him right now. Any poacher willing to sell Pokemon to the syndicate were enemies who were punished just as severely. The fact that this group specialized in catching, stealing and otherwise gathering Eevee and their evolutions struck a particular nerve that normally wouldn't have been.

Cipher can't have them.

Wes sent out Meganium and waited. As soon as the door was busted out of its frame, he issued an attack. "Razor Leaf!" Meganium roared and sent a barrage of sharp leaves through the doorway, taking out the Poliwrath that had been there. That didn't stop the poachers from filing in, sending out their other Pokemon.

With these numbers, there was no way that this battle could be considered fair. Wes sized their opponents up, determining who else he should send out.

The door into the building was ripped open by Dread Dragon before Jack Atlas followed his duel monster inside. He knew there was something wrong with this place the moment he came across it, and it was only right for him to go in and check it out. One could say it was almost his duty. If no one was up to anything wrong here, then his presence was no harm, no foul. He would even pay for them to repair that door.

But, his instinct told him that there was something wrong here. And, his instinct was rarely wrong.

Jack and Dread Dragon made their way through the hallway, the dragon barely fitting in the tight space that it had to bend its neck to not bash its head against the ceiling. As they moved, he heard a commotion going on somewhere ahead.

He knew it.

"Go get that," he said to Dread Dragon.

The duel monster moved up ahead towards an open and broken doorway. It snatched a man who was trying to go in before flinging him against the wall and muscling his way inside. From the shouts Jack heard, the men were startled. This definitely seemed like where he wanted to be right now.

Before anyone could make another move, a dragon - not a Dragon-type, just a dragon - shoved its way into the room. The poachers scattered at its sudden appearance, not sure what to do. Wes took advantage of that and had Meganium use Body Slam, taking out a Watchog before it had a chance to make a move against them.

"Hey, Jack!" Wes called towards the doorway - he knew exactly who owned that Dread Dragon. "Here to join the party?" They were still pretty outnumbered, but this evened things out a little. Taking a Great Ball off his belt, he then sent out... Dunsparce.

There was a pause as the poachers processed this; Dunsparce yawned and looked just about ready to doze off right in the middle of the floor. Wes patiently waited for someone to attack. One of the men scoffed and ordered his Mightyena to use Crunch, but it never got the chance to as Dunsparce moved first, paralyzing it with Glare.

Shouts could be heard from the room as the unassuming Normal-type started piling effect after effect on every target, dealing damage in-between. What she couldn't harm, Meganium did.

Jack was somewhat surprised to hear Wes' voice call out to him. He hadn't expected to run into his friend here. He, however, was also fully aware of the fact that Wes had a knack for finding himself in trouble, probably more so than anyone else Jack had ever met in his life. It was almost like Wes wasn't capable of keeping himself out of it, even when he tried to.

And, judging by the fact there were clearly Pokemon involved, this was just the sort of trouble Jack thought to find Wes in.

Dread Dragon cleared the way so Jack was able to get around the men into the room. Once he saw Wes, he grinned slightly.

"I love parties," he answered, as if they were chatting about something casual. He glanced at Dread Dragon, who was already turning its attention back to the men. It had already grabbed another one to fling. Jack noticed it liked to fling people; that was a good reason to never annoy it, unless he was able to remove its card easily.

"I'm not dressed for the occasion, though." He stopped close to Wes. "What's going on, exactly?" He had just come across this building without knowing any details. It would be nice to know them so he knew what he was up against.

"Poachers," Wes replied. "Usual shit." With all the Pokemon around, there were people willing to take advantage of that for a profit. Most of them didn't care about how the Pokemon felt or where they went afterwards. What made Wes feel worse about it was the fact that he used to be the same way, years ago. From what he learned, the Pokemon that had been trapped here were likely heading straight to Cipher.

This raid also was personal for him, for more than those reasons alone. But that was something they could discuss later. They had work to do right now.

Dread Dragon's appearance was clearly bothersome to the poachers - they had no idea how to deal with it. As some of the enemy Pokemon ganged up on it, Meganium and Dunsparce used this chance to heal themselves with Synthesis and Roost, respectively. Then they were back to fighting, both of them dishing out effects and pain.

One poacher picked up his Farfetch'd and opened a window, scrambling out to avoid Meganium's Poison Powder. He didn't stop there, running off the property and down the street. A few others recalled their Pokemon and, crippled by paralysis, attempted to flee through the hallway. Wes went to catch the cowards and knock them out. There were at least a couple of guys and their Pokemon who didn't move to fight or flee; seeking more opponents, Dunsparce slithered around their bodies as they snoozed on the floor.

Jack made a disgusted noise in the back of his throat when Wes mentioned poachers. Since coming to this world, he had noticed there were a lot of people who wanted to capture Pokemon for more than just what the trainers did, using them in abusive ways. It wasn't something he would have thought too much of, but he was around Pokemon all the time now. Besides being friends with trainers, he had two Pokemon of his own. Knowing there were people out there who were more than willing to try and take them from him while also hurting them made his blood boil.

Whatever Wes wanted to do to these guys to make them hurt, he was perfectly okay with.

He summoned Dark Resonator to his battlefield, as the small monster was one who could easily dart in and out of battle and cause a lot of havoc. Ever since he learned he was capable of summoning monsters out of a duel to aid him, it became quite clear that Dark Resonator really liked causing havoc.

They had dealt with most of the poachers who were in the area they were in. Jack came close to a view, but he knocked them out easily, using his fists. Maybe they should have pumped a little more iron and not steal others' Pokemon, and maybe they wouldn't have been downed so quickly.

"What's the plan, exactly?" he asked Wes. Dealing with Pokemon poachers was Wes' forte. It was better for Jack to defer to him.

After Wes knocked out a few of the men, another came after him with a tire iron. Oh, hey, these guys could actually use weapons. Most Trainers - even the crooks - usually just stuck with their Pokemon, because that was all they believed they needed. For the good guys, using weapons wasn't right and they always believed in their teams. For the bad guys, their Pokemon were their weapons and they didn't need some inferior human-made object to power their way through to victory.

Judging from the swing that Wes just dodged, this poacher had some experience with human fights. Not enough to match his own. With the arm-piece of the Snag Machine, he knocked the tire iron out of the poacher's hand, then took him out with a drop kick the moment the dumbass dove for it.

Picking up the tire iron, Wes twirled it around in his hand before throwing it. His aim was true, hitting the face of a poacher across the room. The Trainer then turned to Jack - he did have a plan. Should be easy enough to do.

"Seeing as I already got what I need and the twins already moved all the captured Pokemon to a safer place..." Wes stepped back as Meganium barreled past him, throwing his weight into a cluster of Pokemon. "We should make sure these guys can't leave and then ditch before the cops show up." They were within city limits and with all this noise, the police were probably already on their way. As much as Wes wanted to see these guys squirm more, he wasn't too keen on being interrogated by the authorities. The data he pulled from a computer earlier would tell him what he needed to know and these bastards were already suffering a lot. Most of them couldn't even pick themselves off the floor now.

Dunsparce was lazily following after Dark Resonator, picking off whoever wasn't smart enough to flee while they were still healthy enough to do so.

Wes' plan sounded solid. Jack didn't want to get caught up with the police either. It wasn't because he was a criminal or anything of the sort, though he may have had some incidents in his past that might qualify him as such. Dealing with the police was always a long process, and it felt like a waste of time, especially if what they were doing was something he believed to be good. Which it was. Rescuing Pokemon from scum was a good thing.

"I guess we better get going then," Jack said. There was another way out of the room, and that was likely to be their exit. That meant it was easier for them to flee out of this place. "Push them backward. Once they're far enough, Dread Dragon, collapse the ceiling."

It sounded like it would be a mighty dangerous idea, but Jack didn't think it was. As long as his group was close to the door, then Dread Dragon could easily knock out the rest of the ceiling, bringing it down so they couldn't be followed. Anyone who wanted to go after them would have to find a long way around.

Jack backed up to the doorway, and Dark Resonator did the same. As they did, Dread Dragon punched for the ceiling, bringing it down. Jack darted through the doorway, lest he got hit with any of the falling debris.

So they were getting out of here by collapsing the ceiling. Wes used that method from time to time. Normally, he would make sure that it wouldn't hurt any innocents, but the only people in this building besides himself and Jack were the poachers. Whistling for his Pokemon to come over, he quickly went for the doorway. Meganium and Dunsparce were quick to follow.

When Dread Dragon punched the ceiling, Wes followed Jack out through the doorway. Once everyone in their group was outdoors and accounted for, he darted into the closest alleyway. For now, he recalled his Pokemon, since they had to get out of the area unseen. While Wes was a pretty recognizable person, he knew how to slip past searching eyes. The two Pokemon, on the other hand, weren't exactly stealthy. They were also brightly colored and couldn't be considered tiny by any means. If a cop even caught a glimpse of them, that would be trouble.

Wes listened to the approaching sirens, then considered the directions Espeon sent to him with telepathy. "Follow me," he said, before taking off through the narrow spaces that were to be both their roads and their cover for the next few minutes.

As the roof started to fall, Dark Resonator went after Jack, who withdrew the care for Dread Dragon. It wouldn't be able to fit into the tight spaces they were going in now, and even if it did, it wouldn't be able to navigate in them efficiently to keep up with the group. If Jack needed a dragon later, he would summon a new one. For now, Dark Resonator would be enough.

They slipped outside into the nearest alleyway. There was a moment long enough that Jack was able to take in where in Santa Destroy they were. He hadn't paid too much attention to navigation when he had made his way over here; it wasn't something that was completely a concern to him. He was able to make out some of the taller, recognizable buildings over tops of the others, but that didn't mean they were in the clear. They needed to go somewhere safely.

"Right behind you," he said as he followed after Wes. Dark Resonator came behind him, and Jack was aware of the duel monster moving along backwards, probably to watch their backs. If anything came up behind them, they would be warned ahead of time so they would be able to react accordingly. He didn't know where exactly they were going, but he trusted Wes to lead them in the right direction.

Wes didn't speak as he led the way through the alleys. Until they reached their destination, there wasn't anything for him to say, unless they were somehow cornered by either the cops or unexpected foes. The Trainer didn't think there were other poachers waiting to ambush them out here, but he was so used to encountering enemies who jumped out from the shadows that he couldn't help but feel wary.

After a few minutes, he left the alleyway at another part of town. The police sirens he heard earlier were now in the distance, too far away to be a concern. Wes approached an old building; overgrown grass on the property and the lack of vehicles parked nearby suggested that it was empty. Usually, it was. Just not today.

The front door opened and Umbreon poked his head out, greeting them. Wes smiled at him as he went up the steps, entering the building. In a room past the lobby was Espeon and all the Pokemon they had rescued earlier. Some looked anxious, others scared and a few looked quite relieved and happy to be away from their captors.

"Here they are." All different ages and Types. A few were even Shiny. But what Wes figured that Jack would notice first was that they were all from the same evolutionary family as the twins.

Jack followed after Wes without a word. He knew that there was no need for words right now. They needed to get a place they could stop and speak safely. For now, they could keep quiet until they got there.

In the distance, Jack could hear the fading sounds of police sirens. He ignored them as Wes led them to an old building, one that didn't look much like it had been in use recently. The perfect place to hide out, if one needed to do so. His eyes looked it over quickly before he followed it inside.

Once he was in the building, he quickly assessed what was going on here, too. There were several evolutions of the Eevee line here, which he recognized. He had been around Wes long enough to be able to identify at least this much when it came down to Pokemon. He had been told that they were a little rarer than some other Pokemon, not often found in the wild, and some had specific tricks that were needed to evolve them. Those sounded like something that would cause Pokemon poachers to be attracted to them.

It was just hard to believe there were so many of them there.

"What are we going to do with them?" Jack asked. Typically, Pokemon trainers didn't carry so many on them at once, and he doubted Wes was planning on keeping all of them.

Wes heard Umbreon shut the door after making sure that they hadn't been spotted. As long as things continued this way, then they should be fine. All the cops' focus seemed to be on the building they had just escaped from, and those poachers should keep them busy for a while. If he was wrong, then he was willing to stay and buy the others time to escape.

By fighting. There was no way in hell he was getting arrested, not by an average police force.

"We'll need to get them out of the city unseen. After dark, if we have to. Some of them have Trainers, so we're going to have to track those people down. And the wild ones need either caring homes or a safe place they can be released at." Wes found an empty spot on the floor to sit. Some of the more cautious Pokemon kept their distance, but a few others approached. One tiny Eevee got close enough to sniff at his fingers. Wes waited for her to decide that he was safe before petting her head, getting a happy response in return.

"But right now... a break." These Pokemon just had a rough time and Wes would admit that he was feeling weary. Getting everyone back to where they belonged was going to take effort and recent events had him both worried and frustrated. He realized that this situation - dealing with normal Pokemon that had been held hostage by normal poachers - was one of the more normal issues in his life at the moment.
