The next Sparring Club meeting was taking place here tomorrow, but Freyjadour wasn't going to wait until then in order to get some practice in. It was normal for him to do drills daily, usually in the evening when Raftfleet was quiet and there wasn't anything important to draw his attention away. The Prince stepped into the training hall of the Dahak; the instructors who usually hung out here were currently gone, probably to grab some dinner.

So for now, the large room was his and his alone.

After doing a few warmup stretches, Freyjadour walked to the center of the hall, pulling his sansetsukon out from its holster. Holding the outer pieces as he normally did, he went into his routine of strikes and blocks. Eventually, he combined the pieces of his weapon into a single staff and practiced with it in that form, seeing how he held it affected his balance, adjusting his grip as he moved into different styles of attack.

Twirling the staff, he gripped it in both hands and jumped, slamming the end of the weapon against the floor as he landed. The sound of the impact was loud in the silence of the hall. Drawing back from his crouch, Freyjadour stood, moving the staff back behind him with one arm as he did.

Tomorrow, the training hall wasn't going to be as quiet. But this evening, like many others, it seemed like he was training alone.

The town of Raftfleet was something sort of extraordinary to Arystar. He'd never seen a floating town quite like this one before. To be fair, though, Arystar didn't really see much at all until he left the castle he lived in all his life. Even then, all of the places he went to were quite unlike this place. He had been on boats before, though, traveling places with the other exorcists. He just never been somewhere that was mostly made of boats.

But, the people here were so friendly. Arystar wasn't used to so many people being nice to him, unless they were his fellow exorcists in the Order. For most of his life, people feared him. It wasn't until he made friends with Allen and Lavi, and returned to the Order with them was he able to find people who accepted him. Even then, many of those people were odd in their own way.

These people here though greeted him pleasantly as he went by, and even gave him directions and told him about different places in the town. Soon enough, he found himself on a large ship they referred to as the Dahak. Apparently, their Admiral was supposed to be living there but she never made it to this world. They also said a prince was living here as well. Arystar never met a prince before, but he hoped he wasn't intruding.

As he walked the hallways, he noticed he didn't quite meet anyone. He did find a door, though, and peeked inside. "Hello?" he called, timidly. He thought he heard sounds coming from inside this room...

Freyjadour could've easily missed the voice, seeing just how quiet it was, as if it didn't actually want to be heard. But compared to the silence in the training hall, it was loud enough. Relaxing in his stance, he stood straighter as he turned, resting the end of his staff against the floor. Sure enough, there was someone peeking into the room.

"It's okay," he called back. "You can come in if you want." Freyjadour wasn't doing anything that was so important that he couldn't receive visitors. Meeting people who were visiting the town was something he really enjoyed doing, too. Everyone was unique and had their own stories, their own reasons for visiting Raftfleet. Often, it was because they were curious - even on this planet, a town of boats and friendly folk floating on a lake seemed like an oddity to people.

Arystar waited, as he couldn't see anyone in sight from the angle he was at the door. But, then a voice spoke, bidding him to come inside. Even so, Arystar hesitated. Was he bothering the person who was inside? Was he making them stop whatever they were doing to attend to him, and was the task they were doing important? Maybe he shouldn't have come here. Maybe he should leave.

Oh, stop that, he scolded himself silently. If you were being a pain, they would tell you to leave, and then you would just leave. Simple as that. They said you could come in, so just go in.

Arystar took a deep breath before he stepped into the room, taking a glance around. His eyes landed on a younger man, who looked like he was probably practicing with his weaponry.

"Sorry for interrupting you," he said, trying to sound as apologetic as he could. "I was just looking around, and I didn't see anyone else around..." He trailed off. Was he going to get scolded? The guy didn't look like the type to scold people, but one could never really be sure.

It was a peculiar-looking man who entered the training hall. While his ears were pointed, Freyjadour didn't think he was an elf, nor Hylian as a couple of his friends were. He also looked rather worried for someone who was simply looking around. Maybe he was just feeling out of his element, a sentiment that the Prince could relate to.

"It's no trouble. I'm simply doing my practice session for the evening." It wouldn't be the first time Freyjadour had to pause whatever he was doing for someone else. "I'm Freyjadour Falenas, Prince of Falena and Commander of the Queen's Knights," he introduced himself, taking a moment to give the man a bow. "Although that's a mouthful... so I also go by Frey, if you prefer that instead." A lot of people do and he really didn't mind. Actually, he quite liked it.

"Welcome to Raftfleet," he added with a smile. "Is this your first time here?" Freyjadour couldn't recognize the man, so if he had been here before, then it must've been at a time when he was out of town.

The man Arystar was talking to seemed to be rather nice. Arystar relaxed a little. Knowing he wasn't talking to someone who was likely to yell at him was a bit of a relief. He did appear to be important - and his introduction letting Arystar know he was a prince of all things suggested the same thing - but it didn't look like he was one of those who reveled in their power position. That was good. Arystar wasn't sure he could handle someone like that.

"Arystar Krory III," he said in reply. He didn't add any noble titles, though he technically possessed them. He was a noble by birth, but he felt he gave that up when he became an exorcist. Instead, he added, "Exorcist for the Black Order." He didn't bother explaining what that was, just in case it was something that would make Frey balk at him.

Arystar plucked at his uniform as he nodded. "I've only been here in this world for a little while. I thought it would be best to take a look around, and I was told about Raftfleet." He tried a smile before adding, "It's quite a lovely little town. The people here are really helpful, and I've never seen anything like it before."

Freyjadour had never heard of the Black Order before, but that might just mean that there weren't very many people from it currently here on the planet. That did happen - the Goddess seemed to pick people randomly, so of course there would be uneven numbers from different worlds. There might be a ton of people from certain worlds, while other worlds were represented by only a few. As much as he wanted to ask, Freyjadour opted to keep their chat in the topic it had led to.

"Even in Falena, Raftfleet was known for its uniqueness." A floating town that could pack up and move to anywhere on the river. Its people kind and laid-back, but fiercely loyal to anyone who had earned their respect. Without their help, Freyjadour didn't think he would've made it through the war. When the town had suddenly vanished one day, he had spent months searching the Queendom for it, to no avail. It came to him as a surprise to find it here hours after he woke up in Makna.

"This is, as far as I'm aware, the first time it's ever been in a forest filled with oversized creatures. I hope you haven't had too much trouble getting here."

Ah, so it wasn't a common thing for boat towns to be traveling up and down rivers on their own, even in the place that this one was from. It would have been very fascinating to have such a place, where all the towns could pick up and move to wherever they wanted, but Arystar guessed that wasn't a very logical thing. It would have made a country very hard to maintain.

"Oh, I didn't have too much trouble," Arystar replied with a shake of his head. He was startled a few times, but he was a lot tougher than he looked. If he needed to fight, he was more capable than many he had met, even if that wasn't something he liked bragging about. It would be just his luck for him to brag only for him to get his butt handed to him immediately afterward. "As an exorcist, I kind of have to be able to take care of myself. These monsters aren't too much trouble."

In comparison to what? Akuma? Probably. Monsters were simple enough to understand when they didn't come with the powers and abilities that Akuma did. Even worse were the Noah family, but they luckily were trapped still in his home world.

Arystar slumped slightly at the thought; maybe that was unlucky. Without him and Miranda there, bad things could still be happening to the Order and humanity, and there were less exorcists to help.

Freyjadour was glad that Arystar didn't have too much trouble getting here. Fortunately, most of the creatures of Makna Forest had a rule of respect. Once they established that someone possessed more strength than they could handle, they usually stopped attacking and left them be. Not everyone met this requirement, however. One of the tasks that Freyjadour had taken upon himself as a regular duty of his was to patrol the pathways and entry points leading into Raftfleet - by ground and by water - lending his help if needed.

Arystar had slumped a little while thinking of something, so the Prince opted to change the subject. "Well, then... maybe you would like a tour? Or was there somewhere here you would like to go?" Showing people around Raftfleet was something he often did, guiding them to places of note and explaining certain details about the town if asked.

It wouldn't be any trouble for Freyjadour to end his practice for now. If there was enough time later, he could get back to it. If not, then he could more than make up for it tomorrow - he would have friends to spar with then.

Oh a tour?

Arystar straightened up, his depression over remembering what the situation back home was not forgotten but pushed back from his thoughts. While it was hard not to think about the stuff back home, he needed to remember there wasn't anything he would be able to do about it right now and it wasn't his fault that he was here and not there. A tour would be a nice way to get his mind off of it as well as get to know this interesting town.

"A tour would be nice," he agreed, trying to smile. He hoped it didn't come across as too cringey or even scary. He'd been told before that his face could be scary at times and smiling did nothing to improve it. He hoped it wouldn't disturb Frey too much.

"I don't know where to look though," he added, rubbing at the back of his neck. "I don't know what Raftfleet would have, and I kind of want to see everything." He paused before quickly adding, "If you have the time, of course. I don't want to drag you away from anything you want to be doing instead...!"

Freyjadour wasn't put off by Arystar's smile, even when it was clear that the man was worried about it. And he was even more worried that he would be taking the Prince away from something important. While proper training and exercise was indeed important for a warrior, what Freyjadour was doing wasn't something that couldn't be put off for a short while. Be it later tonight or tomorrow, he would get back to it in due time.

"What I want right now..." he said, returning the smile, "is to make sure you get to see everything that Raftfleet has to offer." Picking up his sansetsukon in both hands, he separated the pieces and folded it up, returning it to its holster. He wouldn't be needing it right now and hopefully, doing this would put any remaining concerns Arystar had about dragging him away to rest.

"As you probably know, this ship is known as the Dahak. It's Raftfleet's flagship and along with the town, it played a crucial role during the civil war we had back in Falena. Besides this training hall, there's also a bath and the upper deck, where you can see Great Makna Falls quite clearly. Would you like to take a look?"

Freyjadour meant just the upper deck. People might be using the bath at this hour.

Arystar was really relieved that Frey was willing to show him around and that he wasn't bothering him in the middle of doing something important. Unless he was just saying that to make Arystar feel better, which would make Arystar feel worse because it never made someone feel good to have someone lie about something like that....

Oh, here he was, over thinking it all over again. He was going to have to work on that. It was hard not to think this way when he was in a regular conversation, though. It was normally while he was in battle that he was able to keep those thoughts at bay.

What were they talking about? Frey wanted to show him the upper deck, right. It sounded like it would be a nice thing to see. Makna Forest looked really nice from the view he was able to see of it, if someone wasn't counting the monsters that were roaming around. It was probably nicer for him since they weren't bothering him like they did some other people.

"Seeing the upper deck would be nice," he agreed. Maybe fresh air would help make his mind work better.

"Right this way." Freyjadour led the way out of the training hall, up some stairs and onto the upper deck. The evening air was cool and while there was currently nobody else up here, it wasn't entirely quiet. The sounds of the town rang out from down below while Great Makna Falls roared from the other side of the lake. This was one of his favorite spots in the entire world to be.

"Do you see that misty stuff in the air? That's the ether that naturally occurs in this forest. It forms crystals in certain spots as well." Like Runes, the crystals could be collected and refined into something usable. Whether it was solid or in the air, the ether added to what was already a beautiful, if often dangerous place. Especially after dusk, when its glow was easier to see.

That was all Freyjadour decided to say for now, unless his guest wanted to ask something of him. They won't leave until Arystar decided he had enough of the view.

It looked like it was time for their tour to begin. Arystar straightened himself out so he wouldn't look like he was disappointed in anything. Because he wasn't. It was just that his posture wasn't always naturally good. While he had been taught proper posture by his grandfather as a child, it was sometimes hard to maintain it when you grew to be as tall as he was. Coupling that with his anxiety and social awkwardness, it made for a man who slouched a whole lot in his adulthood. But, he didn't want his host to think that had anything to do with him so he made sure to stand tall as he followed.

Arystar followed after Frey, once more taking a good look at his surroundings. He had been on ships before, but none of them had ever been as detailed or as extraordinary as this one. Most of them had been rather plain, designed for function without aesthetic. It was really clear that this one had been set up for both.

It made him wary about touching anything. He didn't want to be the one to ruin this beautiful.

They made their way to the top deck, and a small 'wow' escaped Arystar's lips. He went to stand by the railing, peering down over it at the watery depths below before gazing upward to see waterfall. It was so amazing to look at this. Not to mention the mist... It made it look even more beautiful.

"I was told there were a lot of dangerous creatures in the lake," Arystar said, looking at Frey. "Is that true? How does the town do with them there?"

"There's some living out there," Freyjadour replied, looking out at the lake. "There's a few that can grow particularly large, and with that size comes boldness. They'll venture over here, either out of curiosity or for an easy meal." The Prince didn't specify if he meant that the creatures went after the fish or the townsfolk. A lot of the ones he had seen that get too close didn't seem to have a preference. If it was alive, then it was food to them.

"We occasionally have to drive one back, or kill it if it becomes too much of a nuisance." The lake creatures had every right to live here as the people of Raftfleet did, so outright killing them was mostly used as a last resort. Removing too many of them from the ecosystem would likely upset the balance, something that they didn't want. "Fortunately, most of Makna's creatures respect strength. They will leave you be if you show that you shouldn't be messed with."

They let those they respected get close to them. Some of the larger ones were even friendly enough to give people they trusted rides, something that the Nopon had learned a long time ago. "Still, I wouldn't swim too far away from the town. You never know what you might run into in these waters."
