Rouge the Bat

Good thing the guy was out cold, then. Maybe. It could be that Sagiri was bringing him to a place where he might end up having to deal with something much deadlier than some Cie'th. Rouge didn't want to know. She didn't really care - she was here to help Sagiri haul this guy out of Oerba. What happened to him after the detective was finished with her job wasn't a concern.
"I'll watch your back for a little longer," Rouge replied. Until they were far away from Oerba and Sagiri felt like she didn't need the bat's help anymore. It hadn't been her plan to keep following Sagiri until she was done - she still had to bring this bag she was carrying to her own client. Hopefully, the night ended with few issues and profit for both of them.

Sagiri had gotten the break that she needed. It was time to get moving again. She had a bit of a walk before she reached where she needed to go, so she might as well get going. The faster she got there, the less likely he was going to wake up while she was carrying him. It would be annoying to have to put him down and knock him out again.
At least, Rouge wanted to come along for the time being. It would be nice to have someone else around. Not necessarily to talk to as Sagiri wasn't much of a talker, but because then Rouge would be able to alert her if something came by. It would be nicer to know in advance if she needed to put the man down.
"Thank you," she said to Rouge before she scooped the man up again and placed him carefully on her shoulder. He did not stir, not one bit. Sagiri wondered how he made it to adulthood like this. She would be surprised if he made it to his elderly years.
It wasn't her place to ponder that though, and she needed to go now. Now that he was settled, she took off. Maybe she would make it back before daybreak.
