Oogie Boogie could just smell the guy who wronged him. Metaphorically. He didn't smell much aside from someone had eaten a burger here in this car not too long ago.

He continued down his way into the cars, trying to locate the person he was metaphorically smelling. He knew he was getting close. He was getting so close...

Oogie Boogie burst through the door of the next car. This was it! "I'm---" he started, his voice yelling out loud to the crowd before him. But, then he stopped because something was going on in front of him that distracted him. Was it a duel going on? A duel monsters match?

Oogie Boogie came over, crouching so he could peer over one of the competitors' shoulders, his eyes squinting as he looked down at what was going on.

"Who's move is it?" he asked, curiously. Duel monsters was something that interested him in this world. He was pretty sure if he took part in tournaments, he would be a world champion at it.

"Mine," answered the teen, as if having a sentient sack peering over his shoulder wasn't anything to worry about. In fact, nobody seemed all too concerned. Weirder stuff had happened on this planet. Those who called themselves duelists had all seen their fair share of the strange and freaky. The teen rested his fingers on his deck, which was sitting in its slot on his Duel Disk. "I draw!"

"Who's that?" whispered the young Trainer to the duelist who was seated beside him. Kid only offered a shrug; it would be a pretty believable thing to not know just who the sack that burst into the car was. What he didn't say was that he was pretty sure this was the sack who had been stuffing his face in the dining car. The one Kid had stepped on while he evaded the guards and made his exit.

What was he doing all the way down at this end of the train?

Oogie Boogie squinted down at the cards. He didn't know what any of them were, but he wasn't a duelist and learning something he wasn't bothering to take part in was beneath him. Why did he need to know all these cards? Why did they keep adding cards to the game? Why did they keep changing the rules? Whoever was in charge of duel monsters were clearly money grubbers, and Oogie Boogie had no time for money grubbers.

Besides, back home, Oogie Boogie just took whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. He had no need for money there. Having to even think about money here was a tiresome thing, and he hated being tired.

"Ah," was all he said in reply. He heard the boy ask who he was, and his head snapped up to stare at the boy. He could hear whispers; whispers was something nightmares liked using and he was nothing if not a nightmare. "You don't know who I am, you brat? I'm Oogie Boogie, King of Radiant Garden." He reached out and poked the kid in the forehead, a task easy enough as he was larger than a human and had a fair size reach despite his shorter arms. "Learn your manners around royalty."

He briefly remembered that he was supposed to be looking for someone, but that thought was pushed out because he was preoccupied watching the duel for the time being. If he got bored, though, as he likely was going to, he would give the kid (who had wronged him) a fitting punishment. There was an open window there; he was likely to throw the kid out of it.

King? Radiant Garden didn't have a king. Must've been a self-proclaimed one that nobody listened to. He was a jerk, anyway. Kid would've smacked him for being rude to a child for no real reason, but the boy didn't seem to be too bothered. Rather, he hugged his Caterpie and chirped "Yes, sir, Your Majesty, sir!" and continued to watch the duel. Kid would let it go for now.

Hearing the noise in the car in front of theirs, it might be time to keep going, anyway. The duelist stood up and started climbing out the window, surprising the boy. "Wait... where are you going?"

"That thing the duelist on the far end just did? That was a Ritual Summon." Kid hung off the side of the car and grinned. "I wanna get a closer look!" Tugging on the visor of his red cap, he grinned at the boy before disappearing onto the roof of the car. The boy blinked, then he nodded and went back to the duel. Kid didn't have to worry about him, even with Oogie Boogie in the car. More than one of these teenagers in here would take offense to anything happening to an innocent little kid, especially since he was admiring their lifestyle.

Everyone might have their hands full soon anyway, with the authorities making their way here.

Kid checked his watch. Oops, not much time left! That duel in the aisle had kept him there longer than planned! He hurried down the length of the car. Just needed to reach the end of the train...

Oogie Boogie

Dueling was pretty interesting to Oogie Boogie. This was something that the king would probably be betting on if he was back home in Halloween Town. The citizens there were likely to take to the card game with ease. The people of Halloween Town enjoyed having simple things to keep them entertained in the time when they weren't preparing for next year's Halloween celebration.

When he looked up, he noticed the kid he balked at was by himself. He hadn't been by himself a moment ago. And, there was a nearby open window.

Oogie narrowed his eyes at the open window. That looked EXACTLY like something a face stomper would use to escape out of a train so Oogie couldn't be able to catch him. Trying to remember the details of the boy in his mind - he didn't necessarily have the best memory out there - but thinking hard about it, the boy could very well have the feet of the face stomper.

"It's him..." Oogie breathed before he lurched forward to the seats. People needed to scramble out of his window as Oogie went for the window, sucking in as much as he could to try and fit through the window, even as people exclaimed, wondering what exactly he was trying to do.

Even with the air rushing around him, Kid heard something that made him pause and look back at the car he had escaped from. Some woman with a really obnoxious voice was shouting in surprise. It sounded like...

"Sack or not, you're not going to fit through that window! You're too fat!"

The window! He had left it open, but Kid hadn't thought that Oogie Boogie would be following him through it. The big guy looked like he wouldn't fit and besides, all he could've possibly seen was a duelist sneaking out so he could get around to the other side of the car and see the cards better. Nothing really to chase someone for. Unless... Oogie Boogie had figured it out?

But that sack... seemed as dumb as a brick. And he wouldn't have any reason to chase after Kid, unless...

Kid quickly checked his Duel Disk. He had a deck if he needed to fight while still under the guise of a duelist. However, if Oogie Boogie was after the guy who stepped on his face earlier - and knew it was him - then the disguise would be pointless at this stage. There wasn't any certainty that was why the sack wanted to climb out the window, though, so Kid had to keep this appearance until he knew for sure.

Just a few cars left. Kid crossed over the roof of the next one. If he could reach the last car before Oogie Boogie could reach him, then the show would end and the game was his. It would be too late for anyone to do anything then.

Oogie needed to get through this window. The boy who climbed through it earlier was someone he needed to catch and question - possibly torture if things came down to that - and he needed to do it before the kid managed to get away. Where he was planning to go was of no concern to Oogie as long as he managed to catch him in time.

So, there was only one thing for Oogie to do to fit through the window.

The sack of bugs opened his mouth and several bugs scurried out of him, causing his sack to deflate. People inside seemed to be screaming in surprise at the sudden thinning sack, but he ignored them, the bugs crawling across his face and around the open window. It was quite impressive how the bugs that made his being were able to hang onto the train and not be blown off.

Eventually, he was able to wiggle his body through and onto the roof. Opening the gap of his mouth, the bugs all came back and crawled inside, filling him out again.

"Excellent!" he boomed before laughing, his hands holding at his substantial gut. He was glad he didn't lose any of the bugs; he didn't like being thin. Who wanted to be thin?

Up ahead, he was able to make out the boy. He pointed after him, bellowing, "YOU! I HAVE SOME THINGS TO ASK YOU!" He took off running, the movement of the train seemingly not bothering him.

Aw, crap!

Kid took off running. If Oogie Boogie didn't start running after him - and at such a crazy speed, too - he would've actually stopped and answered, but nobody wanted to stand still when a loud and angry sack of bugs was chasing them. Not even him. Admittedly, he was caught off-guard by just how quickly Oogie Boogie had gotten through the window, too. The phantom thief had sworn he had a little more time to put some distance between them.

And he was pretty glad he was used to running on top of trains. The sack might've caught up to him by now if he hadn't been. Didn't really want to get grabbed by that guy.

Two cars left! Two more and he could finish off his show! Kid pulled the red cap off his head and threw it back at Oogie Boogie. It exploded into a swarm of Kuriboh plushies, shielding the thief from view.

The movement of the train did not cause Oogie to falter or veer off to the side. He ran in a straight line, moving a lot faster than one might have thought someone of his size would be able to move. That was such a benefit of being from somewhere like Halloween Town - some of the logic that humans would apply to situations was mute and void when it came down to the residents. They weren't human; they didn't need to function like them at all. In fact, if what they were doing was scary, then it worked out for them all better.

And, not a lot was scarier than a sentient sack of bugs running full speed down the top of a train at you.

Which meant he was able to catch the kid, grabbing him by the back of his clothes and lifting him up, almost like he was a ragdoll and not a living person. Oogie, of course, was far larger than your average person, and he was able to lift the kid clear off his feet.

He gave the kid a small shake before he spoke.

"You!" he boomed. A worm might have flown out of his mouth and hit the guy in the face, but Oogie didn't notice. It did crawl back to him and into his eye socket, though. "Someone in there stepped on my face while I was trying to dine!" He narrowed his eyes before asking, "Have you seen the guy? I need to teach him a lesson!"

Kid was suddenly pulled off his feet by the sack and he instantly thought of his backup plans, but before he could even use them... it became apparent that Oogie Boogie hadn't realized that he was the one that he was looking for. Now, he wasn't sure if he was supposed to credit his amazing disguise skills for this, or Oogie Boogie's thick skull. But he really needed to get going!

In a burst of confetti, the duelist vanished, leaving his outfit - except the Duel Disk, which he needed to keep - behind. A laugh filled the air.

"My apologies, Your Majesty!" called Kaitou Kid, appearing at the back end of the car just before his stop. "As much as I would've liked to have a long chat with you, I'm afraid I'm running this show a little late. You'll have to excuse me for the hasty farewell!"

Jumping backwards, he landed down at the last car. There were no passengers to worry about inside; indeed, there had only been one of the staff in there when he had gone to prepare it for tonight. That guy was now passed out somewhere near the front of the train. Kid pushed the door open and pressed a button on a hidden device inside, triggering plenty of other devices in the process.

Fireworks went off from their spots all around the car, filling the nighttime sky with noise and light. Underneath this dazzling screen of color, the car unhitched from the rest of the train, and that train continued steadily onward, leaving the car with Kid on it far behind.

Oogie Boogie stared into the face of the boy he held. There was something off putting about this face that he couldn't quite place. He was sure he was forgetting something. Something important about this face. Had he seen it somewhere before? Oogie Boogie really couldn't recall. But, there was definitely something about it that he was supposed to be remembering right about then...

Before, he could react to what the boy said, he disappeared from Oogie's hands. Oogie could feel the weight of the boy disappear even, leaving just in clothes in Oogie Boogie's grasp.

"What the--?" he started, staring down at the clothes. Then, he glanced up, just in time to see the boy's face. It was... It was... "YOU! YOU'RE THE ONE YOU STEPPED ON MY ROYAL FACE!" Instantly, rage filled through Oogie Boogie's body. To showcase that, he abruptly shoved the entirety of the clothing that was left in his hands into the gaping hole of his mouth. Somewhere inside, it was likely to get decomposed by the dozens upon dozens of bugs that made up his being.

Oogie Boogie started to give chase - the boy had disappeared from his sight at this point - but he faltered as the train car that was his destination was separated from the train. Oogie almost fell right off the edge but managed to catch himself in time.

"What? No, that bastard went there!" he shouted as he rested on his knees, staring at the car as it got beyond his reach. "NOOOOOO!"

Oh, now he recognized him? A little too late for that! As the car he was on slowed to a stop, Kaitou Kid stood on its roof. Over the boom of fireworks, he could hear several voices as the guards and the detectives finally noticed what was going on, pushing their way to the windows of the train. But they had no chance of reaching him now and the same went for Oogie Boogie, whose roar of dismay was loud and clear in the nighttime air.

Kid almost felt sorry for the big guy. Almost.

"Have a good evening, my king," he said, tipping his hat towards the departing train. Maybe one day, they would run into each other again, and Oogie Boogie would get another shot at catching him. But tonight's show was over and it was time to head home. Even phantom thieves needed rest after an exciting trip out into the world.

A few minutes later, the magician was sailing up and away from the car on his hang glider, a white bird against the dark starry sky.
