Arystar looked between Armstrong and Miranda. They were really offering him a place to stay.

Since coming here, he had no true place to stay. He had just spent a few nights here and there at hotels with what little money had had in his pockets. He had been blessed that he had learned at the Order that carrying money on one's self was an useful thing to do. And, it was lucky that people around here had figured out some conversion system for their money. Otherwise, he would have been stuck.

But, he hadn't thought he would find someplace that could be like a temporary home for him.

Arystar could already feel the tears starting to form at the corners of his eyes. He didn't want to cry again, but it looked like he might just do that.

"Are you sure?" he whispered, his voice quiet. It might have quivered a bit bit. He wasn't sure. "Would that really be okay?"

Aww... Arystar looked like he was going to cry again. Miranda wished he wouldn't, because he would just make her start crying again, too. She was still trying to get over the initial shock of finding him here, and she wasn't sure if she would be able to stop crying if she started again. They were so far away from the Order... and their friends there... just when those friends needed them the most...

"Of course it's okay!" she exclaimed before she realized she had raised her voice. Nervously, she sank in her chair and chewed on her lip, hoping that none of the people sitting in the surrounding tables noticed her. After an awkward silence, she continued. "I-I mean... I mean that we'll be happy to have you. We're friends, after all!"

"Pika pikachu!" pointed out Pikachu, and she launched herself from her spot to Arystar's shoulder, affectionately rubbing her cheek against his.

Miranda giggled. "See? Pikachu wants you to come, too."

Armstrong could see that the situation was an emotional one for Arystar. He could understand why. While he hadn't been too familiar with all the soldiers who worked and lived at Briggs, he at least had the camaraderie with them as fellow Amestrian soldiers to rely on. It must have been very different if you didn't have that to rely on in this world.

But, Armstrong didn't see the need to shun people out, even if they had not known each other prior to coming here. And, Miranda had been his steadfast friend since arrival. The fort would be open to Arystar to call home while he was here. Armstrong would make sure of that.

He didn't comment, though he did smile when Pikachu decided to show affection and reassure Arystar that they all agreed in his joining them. If one couldn't believe Pikachu, then there was no truth in the world.

So, it was really alright? Arystar could hardly believe it. How often did he have to think about that? The thought had already run through his head multiple times since the possibility was presented to him only moments before. But, he couldn't help himself. It was normal behavior for him to question kindness towards him. He had been shunned as a child and only been shown that strangers could be kind and become friends as well after he had left home as an adult.

Arystar was startled when Pikachu suddenly jumped to his shoulder. He stiffened upon the impact, but relaxed once he released that she wasn't trying to attack him. She was actually showing him some affection, which he wasn't used to receiving from animals. Most animals were frightened of him and usually ran or attacked him.

Daintily, he reached up and petted Pikachu's head.

"I'm come then," he said. There were tears glistening in the corners of his eyes, but they didn't fall. "It would be nice to have somewhere to stay." He didn't add 'to call home' but he meant that as well.

"Chaaa~" crooned Pikachu when Arystar petted her head. She liked this guy and he was coming with them, no ifs, ands or buts. If there was something that was supposed to be scary about him, she couldn't find it. Giving him one last nuzzle, she hopped back onto the table so she could finish off the rest of her meal.

"I'm glad..." Miranda added. She was glad that her friend was willing to stay with them. It would put her mind at ease knowing that he would have a place to stay and somewhere to go whenever he was tired of traveling, and that he was eating well. And that place was the same place that she currently called home. She almost wanted to cry tears of joy again, but she focused on finishing her meal. It wouldn't do to let it go cold.

She didn't talk again until she placed her fork and knife onto her empty plate. "What should we do after this...?" she asked her group of friends. They didn't have to go back to Briggs straight away. They could explore Radiant Garden for a bit - they could show Arystar the sights.

And, so it was officially decided that Arystar would be joining them at Briggs for his main place to stay and rest at. Armstrong couldn't have thought of it ending in a nicer and smoother fashion. There might even be some tears on the way, judging by what he saw in both Arystar and Miranda's faces. If they did, it would make his own glorious self shed of his legendary Armstrong tears.

But, tears could be a good thing, and so he wouldn't have minded. In this case, it helped signify a reunion of friends. What better reason to cry than that?

"Perhaps, once we are finished our meal," Armstrong said, "we should show Arystar around Radiant Garden. There's a lot of things one could see here."

Armstrong, of course, meant when they had finished their meals. He himself had already eaten everything there was to be eaten for him, as he was a quick eater as well as a large man who enjoyed an enormous appetite. In the military, one learned to cope with the latter by becoming the former, as you had little time to eat.

Arystar felt so relieved that they had worked out something. He had thought he would wander here aimless and lost for who knew how long. But, that wasn't going to be the case. It wasn't going to be the case at all.

He felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders.

His food and drink were cold now, and he had only eaten half his meal. But, Arystar had gone on missions where cold food was all he got, so it didn't bother him as he started to eat again. In fact, for some reason, his food tasted better than it had before. He tasted amazing.

The question now was what were they going to do once they were done eating. Arystar hadn't put much thought into it. He had come to Radiant Garden hearing it was fairly safe aside from the Heartless, and he hadn't thought much more beyond maybe finding a hotel or something like one so he could rest his head for the night. He had thought he might just sit around, as he had nothing else to do.

But, they suggested a tour of the town. It seemed like a good idea.

"I'd like that," he agreed. Now that he wasn't alone, maybe the Heartless weren't likely to bother him.

"Me too..." Miranda smiled. It would likely be Arystar's first proper tour of one of the many places on this planet. While it wasn't exactly the safest - due to the number of Heartless that prowled the shadows - it was still very safe compared to some other areas. If Arystar ever came back here by himself for whatever reason, he would at least know where to go if he needed anything.

Since she and the Major were already finished with their meals, all Miranda could do at the moment was wait for Arystar and Pikachu to finish theirs. Sitting on the table, Pikachu picked up each of the last pieces of her food, one by one, then ate them. The Electric-type seemed to savor each piece and once she was done, she leaned over her plate and picked up the larger crumbs with her mouth. Then she sat back and took a moment to groom her face.

"Did you like it?" Miranda asked her, and Pikachu responded happily. Aww... she was so cute when she wasn't firing Thunderbolts at things. Sometimes, in the heat of battle, Miranda thought that Pikachu looked a little frightening.

Armstrong knew what their plan of action was. Having a plan of action was something that was in his blood. Sometimes, it was fine to run with the wind, but it was always good to know what you wanted to do. There were several reasons for that, but the one he thought was most important was making sure the people he cared about were safe and happy.

This was one of those times. The Goddess' World could be dangerous, especially to newcomers who lacked the knowledge of what they could expect in places that differed from their own. He remembered what a culture shock it was to deal with the Deep Roads or the mages of the College, or even going to a place like this where the technology was different from his own.

"We'll leave when we're all ready," he said with a nod. Everything was already paid for so they could up and leave when they were all ready to go.

Arystar ate, and this time he was quiet while doing it. He didn't think anything else needed to be said between them. It was like all the weight from his shoulders had been taken away over the course of a meal. He could remember his grandfather telling him as a child as they poured over books together that a war could be won in a matter of minutes, as long as the right move was made. That was how he felt right now, as if he won a war.

He knew that wouldn't be enough. His life back home was in chaos, and it was experiencing something that was stronger and more dangerous than anything else they had had to deal with in so long. It was more than the Earl trying to bring about the Ark. So much more. And, he was trapped here with no knowledge and unable to assist in any way.

But, that wasn't something he could worry about. If there was no way for him to go back, he shouldn't dwell on it.

Arystar finished his meal, making sure he cleaned his plates thoroughly. He picked up his napkin and dabbed at his mouth.

"I'm good to go," he said to his friends. Friends. He felt nice to think of them as friends. Miranda had always been a friend ever since he had first met her, but now he had more of them and that was such a relief to think about.

Once everyone was finished, Miranda stood up from her seat. Pikachu perked up and hopped up onto her shoulder, making a content remark once she had gotten comfortable. They usually traveled like this, her and Armstrong, with Pikachu perched on one of them. But now their trio was a quartet, and Pikachu had one more friend to ride on.

Miranda felt like it took the sting out of not knowing what was going on back at home, how her other friends were doing. She honestly couldn't imagine surviving here without Armstrong and Pikachu, their companionship and support. If she and Arystar couldn't go home, then at least they had friends here. Maybe one day, they would find a way. But in the meantime...

"Shall we?" she said, smiling at her friends, who were more important to her than anything else on this planet built from the pieces of others. They still had time left in the day and she wanted to make the most of it. She didn't bother asking about paying for their meals - she knew it was already taken care of. It would've been brought up already, otherwise. They were free to head out and see the world.

Now that they were all done eating, Armstrong stood. He took all of their dishes and easily balanced them all together so he could take them back to the counter. It would be easier on the staff this way, if they didn't have to take the time to cart it all back and clean the tables. Armstrong had never been in the service industry - he was a career soldier, as anyone who met him would have been able to guess - but he knew they could be long time sufferers, even if they were members of a mage guild.

He gave the person running the counter another thank you before he went to join the others.

"Since we're all ready, let us go," He said, giving them a smile though it was mostly hidden behind his mustache. They would be able to tell he was smiling, though, as it was very hard to miss a legendary Armstrong smile. One was just able to feel it, even if they weren't quite able to see it, and Armstrong was sure his friends and comrades would be able to recognize one right away.

"We'll take it slow," he added as he led the way to the door, holding it open for the others. "So, we have time to digest." No need to make anyone feel sick. Besides, they had the time.

Arystar stood up from his seat, helping give some of his dishes over to Armstrong once it was clear that was what the big man was doing. He watched a moment, amazed that Armstrong was able to carry so much without dropping any of it, before he went towards the door.

Arystar felt like he was taking important steps in his journey, both here and in life. He knew the steps he took when escaping that island with Sami were important, and he knew that the steps he took to even getting in that boat when he had first come here were important. But, these steps felt like the ones he took when he had left the castle that had been his family home for decades with Allen and Lavi to join the Black Order.

These were truly his first steps in this new world. He would make the most of them.

He didn't speak but he nodded his head as he took a step outside of the Fairy Tail Headquarters. The sun outside was bright. It was the signal of a good day.
