Thanking the merchant, Sable picked up her bags and left the front of the stall.

To be perfectly honest, she couldn't quite believe that she was up here. The Citadel seemed like a noisy, busy place - not one of the usual areas she would visit whenever she had to go out shopping. But she had wanted to do a little sightseeing and besides, a lot of the people here were dressed so differently. It gave her some fresh new ideas for future projects.

And she got some new material at a good price, so that was nice, too.

Traveling from place to place on the Citadel was a little tiring, so she found a bench and sat on it, watching people as they passed on by. Being as small as she was, Sable had, for the most part, gone unnoticed here, and she made sure not to get underfoot. It might be time to leave now, so all she had to do was make it back to the docking area...

Now, where was that again...?

Flemeth
© Jessica // CURRENTLY Offline

Making her way through a place like the Citadel in her typical grandmotherly disguise was probably the best way to travel for Flemeth. Sure, in her typical witch get-up that was her usual appearance, people were likely to move right out of her way. Mostly out of fear since she looked unusual and just a wee bit intimidating. But, when a lady didn't want attention, putting herself in this appearance was the best way to move through a crowd. People moved out of her way, not wanting to be the one who knocked an old woman down.

She supposed it didn't matter which culture one was from or what species they were. Hitting the elderly was still something frowned upon.

She walked with a cane, using it to tap out the area in front of her. Mostly, it was used to make sure people moved out of her way faster. A few young ones were gently whacked with it. Before they were able to snap at her, they saw who she was and simply got out of her way with mumbles of apologies.

Perhaps she was enjoying it too much.

Flemeth removed herself from the crowd and went to sit on a bench that was already occupied by a hedgehog.

"Fancy meeting you here," she said, jovially.

When an eldery human woman approached to sit on the bench, Sable had only given her a glance. It was rude to stare at someone you didn't know. But then the woman spoke and the hedgehog turned her head, studying her quizzically. That voice was very familiar... and now that she had a better look at this person...

"Oh... hello, Miss Flemeth." If there was anything Sable knew about Flemeth, it was that she could change forms as easily as other people changed clothes. It was a very interesting ability, although a little intimidating. There was a lot about Flemeth that was intimidating, but the mage had always been nice to her, so. "You look very grandmotherly today."

Not the extremely sweet and caring grandmotherly type, but still grandmotherly. Nobody would bother Flemeth if she looked like that, unless they were really mean people.

Flemeth let out a crackle. It started a nearby asari who was seated on another bench. She promptly got up from her seat and fled into the crowd. Oh, some people were just so twitchy. They could take an old woman showing her amusement so openly. Space people...

"Yes, grandmotherly was what I was going for, so I'm glad it's showing," she said, almost airily. It was a tone she only used to mock though that wasn't quite what she was going for there. Unlike many another people she dealt with, Flemeth didn't want to mock Sable. She liked Sable, and would feel quite like a witch if she was ever rude or mean to her.

Or, more like a witch than she normally felt like.

"I've noticed these types will move out of the way if I like this way," she said, using one hand to brush stray gray strands away from her face. She kept the other one on her cane. "So, if you need to make our way, let me know. If they don't move, I can get away with some bopping." She chuckled at that; bopping people with canes was quite amusing to her.

Sable watched as an asari fled simply because Flemeth laughed. She couldn't understand why. Weren't old ladies allowed to laugh if they wanted to? It didn't make any sense for anyone to find that weird... maybe she just wasn't understanding it right...

Flemeth offered to walk with her, which was really nice of her. Sable wasn't going to refuse - she could certainly use some help! "I was planning on heading home, if I can make it back to the docks..." the seamstress replied, slipping off the bench. "Thank you very much for the help." If Flemeth was with her, she was sure nobody would step on her. There were just so many people here, all busily moving around...

Sable didn't think she could ever live in a place like this. She felt a little nervous just visiting here.

Ah, the docks were some distance away from where they were now. Flemeth had been there a few hours ago, but she had not wasted any time in getting away from that crowded area. She was sure that the Citadel as a whole had gotten only more crowded in this world than the last. It probably attracted people who were used to such settings but could find no other in the world.

Which made it all the more crowded when getting to the one location one could exit and enter the Citadel.

Sable looked ready to go so Flemeth stood up from the bench, letting out a groan. It was mostly for show, of course. Flemeth didn't feel anything akin to pain or soreness. She wasn't even sure if her old body would ever feel that, not when she knew how to get around her age. She had ways to. She just didn't need to any time soon.

"Let us go, then, Sable," she said, sounding almost cheerful. This world made her feel more cheerful than she normally did. It put a different light on her life, and since she had been living it for centuries, that was a nice thing to have. She started out into the crowded, moving at a slow pace with her walking stick before her.

Flemeth was really acting the part of grandmother, too. If Sable hadn't known her, she would've fallen for it! But she knew Flemeth... or at least as well as anyone could possibly know Flemeth. There was a lot about Flemeth that was a mystery, probably on purpose. Anyway, she knew how powerful and confident the mage was, and so she knew that this display of effort just to get off the bench was just for show.

"Okay," Sable nodded, making sure she had all her bags with her before she followed. She had quite a few of them, but she was able to carry them all. She wasn't about to ask Flemeth to carry something for her, either. The mage was already going out of her way to get her back to the docks in one piece. Also, carrying any of these bags might sully the image Flemeth was trying to maintain.

At the sight of the elderly woman with a walking stick, the crowd parted, as if they were getting out of the way of something large that could hurt them. Like a car. It was actually interesting to see these Citadel crowds react to someone like this. Before now, Sable had seen them just stand around, blocking places, or moving in such numbers that it was difficult to see around them.

Tap, tap, tap went Flemeth's walking stick against the shiny hard flooring that made up the Citadel's streets. It was so interesting to see how to the large space station was made and how it delivered from cities down below. It reminded her more of the cities back home in Ferelden and the rest of Thedas than many of the cities on the planet before. That was an odd thing to say, but cities in Thedas weren't meant to accommodate large vehicles like cars. Even carts weren't so big at times, and they were often designated to areas, unable to move around in the tighter spaces that made up most of the city. They were for people to walk on, not to ride on though they may fit a horse. The Citadel was much the same way in that regard as one was more likely to see all the foot traffic as oppose to people riding something. That was probably due to most of the vehicles being the air above.

Flemeth looked upwards and was able to see the flying cars that moved along above the people who were walking around her. It was so fascinating to see. The people of Thedas would not be able to comprehend such a sight. What a shame.

"You still behind me, Sable?" she called over her shoulder. She made sure that even her voice sounded a little more scraggly than usual. It was important for you to keep up the delusion of elderly weakness, if only for amusement's sake.

The more Sable got to look at the Citadel, the more amazed she felt over it. So many people, such beautiful buildings... and cars that could fly! Her own world had cars, but they were very much like the cars down on the planet below - they rolled on the ground on their wheels. Flying cars were a new thing to her. She had to wonder how they were able to drive around in the air...

"Oh, yes, Miss Flemeth!" she replied cheerfully. "I'm still here." Even though she was so short and had short legs, Sable was still able to keep up with Flemeth. It wasn't like she was going very fast as she moved forward with her walking stick. The hedgehog found that she was actually enjoying the walk - she was now able to see things without being jostled or having her view blocked by taller people. And she didn't have to rush, either.

People - especially people who lived in a city - were always rushing. They missed a lot of things when they did that.

Sable was still behind her and was alright? Good. That pleased Flemeth to know. She didn't mind losing a lot of people in a crowd because she simply didn't care for them. But, she liked Sable. She was a lot more pleasant to be around - and a lot less annoying - than a lot of people that Flemeth knew. Some people were just such sticks in the mud. How did they wake up every morning and function properly? She would never know, not in all her hundreds of years.

But, this was quite a pleasant stroll they were on. Flemeth had to stop once, letting a group of elcor migrate down the street. She was quite willing to push everything from a volus to a krogan out of her way if she needed to, but it was quite another thing all together to shove an elcor. She could do it, no doubts about that. It was just that it would draw so much attention to her.

The only attention she wanted right now was the scowls she was getting from the people who didn't want to move out of her way but had to do it anyways so they didn't look like assholes.

They paused to watch a group of elcor go by, then they were on their way again. Sable didn't mind having to stop for anyone - she wasn't on a time crunch or anything like that. As long as they got to where they were going eventually. Again, this walk was quite enjoyable to her. There wasn't any need for them to rush!

After a few minutes, they had to stop again, this time because a crowd was blocking the street. Sable heard an argument taking place at the center of it. "Oh dear..." she murmured, looking up at Flemeth. "I'm not sure if we're going to get through this way, even with your walking stick." And being both an introvert and a non-combatant, Sable preferred staying far away from people whenever they started doing stuff like this.

Maybe they should find some other way to go?

Flemeth sighed, staring at the mess of a crowd before her. She had traveled to cities like Denerim before where people liked doing such things. It was typically what happened with the common folk when they were mad over one stupid thing or another, and they were given something hard to drink. Drunk people often turned to stupid people, and when they were able to attract a crowd, it only made things all that much worse.

Nobles, of course, rarely caused these sorts of issues. If they had such a problem that would warrant any sort of public argument, they wouldn't let it happen. It would ruin their image to the public, which they valued so highly. Instead, they would simply hire someone to assassinate the other party, plain and simple.

"I feel you are correct, Sable," she said, turning away from the crowd. Some people were stopping to watch. Some people really liked watching the problems of others. "I don't know where another route is, but let us seek it out."

As much as it seemed that Flemeth disliked finding another route, they didn't have much of a choice. Sable didn't mind, as it meant that they weren't going to get involved somehow. She didn't like getting involved in stuff like that if she could help it - she usually just kept her nose down and found a way to get around the problem. And Flemeth, who was currently an elderly lady, would likely cause even more of a scene if she bothered to step in.

So the hedgehog was actually quite glad when they turned away from the crowd to find some other way to get through. Now, where would that be...?

"Oh, would you look at that, Miss Flemeth..." she commented after about a minute. "The street seems so empty over here." There were maybe three other people nearby at most. It was a sharp contrast to the crowd they had just left! Were people really that interested in watching arguments? Sable didn't think she could ever understand that.

Moving on another path was not something Flemeth was fond of. If she was in a particular hurry, she would have simply transformed into something that could take her clear over the crowd so she could get past them with no issues. But, that wasn't likely to happen right now. Not here. Because she had Sable with her, and she wasn't likely to leave Sable behind. And, she didn't think the small hedgehog woman would appreciate being picked up by a giant bird.

She had done that once, to pick up some wardens. It was almost a shame they were unconscious so they couldn't see it go down themselves. She was sure the wardens would have appreciated it. Well, one of them would have. The louder, twitchier one might not have liked it as much.

"Yes, it means we can walk side by side," she said, pleasantly to Sable. "Wouldn't that be nice?" That way, Sable didn't have to just follow behind her, hoping she wouldn't accidentally walk into Flemeth's backside. That would have led to an interesting conversation, though.

"Oh, yes." Sable jogged a little until she was walking beside Flemeth instead of following right behind her. She looked up at the woman. "This is much better." She preferred being able to see the face of whoever she happened to be talking to... usually. There had been a time in her life where she didn't like talking to people, preferring for her sisters to handle any social requirements needed for their business while she kept her nose down at her sewing machine. While she still felt a little awkward talking to strangers, she was doing better at just chatting overall.

It really helped that this world had some really nice people in it, like Flemeth. Some of the rumors Sable had heard made the mage out to be some kind of terrifying witch, but she didn't see her like that. Flemeth had always been kind to her.

It really was nice that that this street wasn't so crowded, although Sable wasn't sure where to go from here. She looked around, trying to see if she could spot someone who might be taking a detour to get around the crowd they had left behind. Unfortunately, she wasn't so familiar with this area to be sure of that.
