This place was incredible.

After showing the gatekeeper that he could, in fact, use magic, Freyjadour was granted access to the College. Keeping on his winter gear - he found the air within the grand stone complex a little chilly - the Prince had spent the past couple of hours exploring the areas that visitors were allowed to be in, drifting through the halls and up and down winding stairs. Whenever he met a mage who didn't look like they were in a hurry to get somewhere, he would have a chat with them, learning about the kinds of magic they studied here.

Eventually, he made his way back outdoors, to do some further exploring.

The weather today wasn't bad, by Briggs standards. Actually, it was a rather nice day by Briggs standards. Instead of having a blizzard sweep through the area, keeping everyone indoors, the snow drifted lazily from the sky. Catching a falling snowflake in the palm of his gloved hand, Freyjadour looked upwards, the hood of his coat sliding away from his head.

The sky was grey and cloudy, yet calm. How long before the next storm?

Freyjadour turned his attention ahead of him and kept walking. If the weather got bad before he had to leave, he could wait it out by continuing his conversation with one of the teachers. Runes from his world had gotten the Dunmer's interest, and he wanted to learn more about the ones that the Prince currently had.

It was cold outside.

Unlike a lot of people, Sagiri could take a lot of cold. She normally didn't even wear a proper coat during the winter time in Falena. She would just wear her regular coat. She never felt cold like that at all.

But, Briggs was far colder than Falena, even if it was having a nice day for once. Normally, it was stormy there, but it was the case for that day. It was actually pretty decent out, especially since Sagiri was wearing appropriate attire. When she had told Sable she was going to make a trip up to the College, mostly for a casual visit and not anything work related, Sable had insisted on winter gear. Sagiri wore it because Sable had made it for her.

Sagiri reached up and gently pressed on the earmuffs she wore. Yes, they were very nice and warm. Her ears didn't feel the cold.

She reached the College and used her Flowing Rune to demonstrate her magical ability before entering into the yard. Maybe it was because of the closed in building around them, but it was even warmer here than out on the field. It was kind of nice, even with the gently drifting snow.

And, it was quiet. Sagiri liked quiet. In fact, she was one of only a couple of people in the yard at the moment. One of who looked kind of familiar to her...

Freyjadour noticed movement in the corner of his eye and he turned, spotting someone entering through the gate. At first, he thought it was just some other visitor, likely from a world he didn't know much about. Magic came in many different forms, so it was no surprise that a lot of different kinds of magic users came here to learn. But something about this person kept him from looking away, and soon he realized that he knew this person after all.

"Sagiri?" His voice came out with cloudy puffs in the cold air. It really was Sagiri. Freyjadour couldn't believe just how different she looked, just because she was out in winter gear. He didn't think he had ever seen her in any other outfit besides her usual one. Ever.

The snow crunched softly under his feet as he walked over to her. "What a coincidence, meeting you here." Freyjadour hadn't known that Sagiri would be here today. Otherwise, they could've traveled here together.

Sagiri

Oh. She had been right after all. The person she had noticed in the College courtyard with her had been someone she was familiar with. But, Sagiri hadn't expected for the person to be the Prince. When he approached her, she dipped into a quick bow. Even if it wasn't something he expected, he was still technically a member of the royal family of her home country. They didn't need to be in that country for her to show him basic proper respect.

No surprise showed on her face, however, though her smile seemed genuinely warm this time around, as oppose to empty and blank.

"It is," she agreed. "I hadn't expected to find you here." She glanced around, taking in the wintry landscapes around them. It was so much different than the natural landscape of Falenas. "This place doesn't seem to suit you. You need to be near water." Falenas was known for its river system that they used frequently for transportation. Even if their capital city that the Prince called home was on the Feitas River.

"Have you been here long?" she asked, curious. They must have missed each other in Raftfleet, as she hadn't seen him there when she had left.

Freyjadour smiled at Sagiri's observation. No, this wasn't like any of the places he was used to visiting. He honestly did prefer the water over snow and ice, and he was sure that this was the warmest he had ever dressed - thick winter gear to stave off the cold. Falena, of course, had an abundance of sunshine and flowing water, two aspects that Briggs was quite lacking in.

"Not really. I arrived here just a little over two hours ago," he replied. "I spent most of my time indoors, but I wanted to check out the courtyard while the weather's nice." And the weather was usually far from nice here. This was an opportunity that he wanted to take. Freyjadour wasn't sure when he would be in this area again, and he felt lucky that he had made this trip while the weather was agreeable.

"Are you here to do research?" Either into magic, the mages, or both. Sagiri was a detective, and Freyjadour knew that she was always looking for more information to add to what he assumed was already a substantial pile of notes. There was so much to learn about on this planet.

Oh, was Sagiri here for research? To be honest, she hadn't really thought much of that before this. Normally when she traveled somewhere, it was so she could collect more information on the location and place in her database on the world for latter use. But, Sagiri hadn't bothered to even give that a thought this time around. She didn't think there was a whole lot to say about the Briggs region that she hadn't already seen.

It was cold.

There was a lot of snow.

A military fort sat near the top of it.

There were mages living there.

There were probably yetis somewhere.

Not a whole lot she could add.

To the prince, she said, "No. I thought I'd take a stroll since the weather was nice." She knew that was an odd thing to say, seeing as going strolling through Briggs wasn't something most people would even consider when they said the word stroll. Even people who lived there. They just didn't go strolling.

But Sagiri found there was something interesting and nice about taking a walk in a place that normally raged while it was calm.

"Ah, okay." Sagiri wasn't here for research. That was fine, too. The weather was nice here for once - why not enjoy it? A blizzard currently wasn't trying to bury everything in sight with snow, so it was as perfect of a day to take a stroll as it would ever be in Briggs.

Freyjadour didn't think that taking a stroll here sounded all that strange. Maybe because it was Sagiri who said it - he was so used to hearing such things from her by now. They had known each other for some time and he considered her a friend.

"Would you mind if I tag along, then? We can take a stroll around the College together." At least around the outside areas, the places they could safely reach. It really did seem like a good time to see what there was to see out here. It wasn't too cold, the wind was calm, and snowflakes drifted from the clouds above, softly landing on the first thing they made contact with.

It was... serene, if he had to describe it another way. It was such a contrast to Briggs' usual appearance - harsh and unforgiving.

Sagiri
© Jessica // CURRENTLY Offline

Sagiri had considered climbing up along the outside of the tower to take a look around it that way. She had been sure that she wasn't allowed to do such things, but Sagiri had never quite been the one to always to follow what the rules had been. It was part of an upbringing that told her that she only had one group to listen to, and that group was dead.

But, she would have to reconsider now. The Prince wasn't one for breaking the rules unless it was important, and she didn't think that this counted. And, she didn't want to risk one of her lieges' lives by having him climb something that would be slippery. She could do it no problems. She doubted her could. He had never struck her as much of a climber.

"I'd be honoured," she said to the Prince with a bow of her head. Sagiri never thought there was ever a good enough excuse to turn him down. He had done so much for her in the time she had known him. She wouldn't be in a good place if it wasn't for her. She still hated herself on a small level, but she thought much less of it now than she had before.

Besides, she didn't need an excuse to get out of spending time with him right now. She wanted to.

Freyjadour smiled. He didn't think Sagiri had agreed just because of his station. They were friends and comrades in arms. They knew each other quite well by now, and if they were to spend time together, it was because they were hanging out as friends. Not because he ordered her to or anything like that.

If Sagiri ran into any trouble again, he would help her with no hesitation. The same went for everyone he had gotten to know during the civil war - they were his friends. His allies. Even now, he would do what he could to help them.

"Lead the way, then," he replied. Sagiri might be planning to wander the area aimlessly, or maybe there was something she wanted to see first. In case it was the latter, Freyjadour would let her decide where they were going. It was one of those times when - despite having been the leader of the rebel army and now being the Commander of the Queen's Knights - a little bit of the old Prince surfaced. The one who followed after others, rather than the other way around. Freyjadour didn't think it was necessarily a bad thing.

Oh, Sagiri could lead the way? She did that quite often, if she was being honest, but it was never her intention to that. It was normally because she was the one who knew what was going on around her. She was doing her work, after all. She was a detective. Figuring things out was something she was just used to. It was a shame most people couldn't do the same, but she couldn't blame them either. Some people just weren't good at noticing the details around them.

"Oh, okay," Sagiri said, turning to look around the courtyard. There wasn't too much to see from what she could tell, but she started to walk anyways.

"I want to see over the edge," she commented over her shoulder to the Prince. It might have sounded odd, but she had seen the positioning of the College on the way up. She had wanted to see just how far down the fall would be. It fairly clear today as well, which meant it would be easier for her to be able to make out the bottom.

If it was possible to make out the bottom at all. Maybe it was a bottomless pit; who knew?

The edge? Freyjadour knew that the College was high up on a cliff, with only one gate as its only normal means of entry. He assumed that it had been built in such a way to keep intruders out. No doubt there were secrets within that the mages would want to keep to themselves. Another advantage to being up here seemed to reveal itself once he looked into the College's history; as the locals' opinions about it worsened, being out and away from the populace may help protect it.

The College was looked upon more favorably in this world. Freyjadour wondered how much that one detail had changed things for it and its mages.

"I wonder if the College has any safeguard to keep its students from falling off," he said as he walked with Sagiri. The students here were curious, highly driven, and sometimes a little more reckless than they ought to be. Not that he believed that someone would jump off the edge on purpose, but accidents happened. A teacher had implied that some of the many experiments that the students did had led to some unexpected and unsafe results.

Sagiri thought about what the Prince said. She wondered as well if there were safeguards somewhere that kept the students from plummeting off the edge of the school grounds and to what was probably their gruesome deaths below. She also wondered how many students had made dares to see if they could cross alongside the rocky outer rim of the school yard, from one side to the next.

It sounded like something Sagiri would have done without a dare. It was kind of something she wanted to do right this minute, but she would refrain from trying since the Prince was her companion now. She didn't want him to think that she was in danger and then try his own luck on the edge. He didn't have her balance. He might die.

She could not figure out how to say such a thing to Queen Lymsleia without her being upset. Lymsleia was rather...touchy.

Sagiri reached the edge and stepped casually on the stone wall that was there. She could feel the ice through her shoes. She didn't slip at all, however. She was able to keep her balance just fine. Making sure her stance was alright, she leaned forward to peer over the sight.

They reached the edge, but Freyjadour didn't step up onto the wall like Sagiri had. He wasn't confident in his ability to stand on an ice-covered surface such as this and he wasn't about to risk it. If his sister had been here, she would probably yell at him if he tried... then she might insist that she take a look from up on this wall and demand someone's help in supporting her.

Freyjadour sighed. He really missed Lym. He worried about her. She was probably still trying to find him; woe be to anyone who suggested to her that he might've died.

A land of snow gave way to an ocean dotted with glaciers. The Prince knew of the view, and his eyes went up to the sky instead. The wind had picked up a little, ruffling his white hair and blowing snowflakes onto every surface. Suddenly, his head felt a lot colder now, uncomfortably so.

Reaching for his hood with both hands, Freyjadour pulled it back up over his head, the fur-trimmed lining hovering just above his eyes. He couldn't imagine people living in this lonely and cold place every day of their lives... and yet, that was exactly what these mages were doing.

Sagiri

There was quite a distance between Sagiri standing on the edge of the College's wall and the ground below them. Sagiri tilted her head as her gaze went from the land to the ocean that indicated the barrier of the Western Continent. Sagiri had almost forgotten they were so close to the ocean when they were at the College. From the ground, you weren't really able to see the ocean at all. The terrain was too rocky to be able to see straight across to it to the ocean, and the weather often obscured the vision even more.

Sagiri wondered how cold that water would be. How long would it take her to freeze if she fell into it? Would she be able to swim to shore in time? She was a good swimmer - she had to be - but she wasn't sure if she was able to do even that.

She made a mental note to never jump into the ocean this far north. It was probably fatal.

"The fall is probably fatal too." This Sagiri said out loud so the Prince was able to hear her thoughts as well. "I wonder if they have to have lessons with new students to make sure that they know better than to get this close to the wall." As close as she was. Most mages didn't come equipped with her reflexes and her sense of balance.

They were also incredibly curious. That meant they were likely to hurt themselves in their lessons if they weren't watched properly.

Sagiri stepped off the wall. Her feet made soft crunching noises in the snow. She kind of liked that sound. It was a pleasant sound to hear.

"Possibly..." Freyjadour murmured in response. It should be common sense not to venture too close to the edge of the College grounds. But knowing the mages... they were curious, reckless at times, and confident that their magic would save them in a pinch. He wasn't sure if there was a spell to catch someone who fell from such a height. Likely, the impact with the water would kill them, so there wouldn't even be a chance for them to try swimming back and possibly freeze to death.

It was a dreary thought. Hopefully, the teachers here were making sure their students knew of the dangers. They seemed to have safety lessons on everything else, including dealing with accidental results of experiments and defending against stray attack spells. There ought to be one about the College's location as well.

Freyjadour waited until Sagiri had stepped off the wall before speaking again. "So... where to?" His breaths came out in cloudy puffs. Wherever Sagiri chose to explore next, Freyjadour was sure that he wouldn't mind. He was just tagging along, after all.
