The biotic moved the bomb rather slowly, but Hackett didn't blame him. He was a well trained soldier, but he knew that it just took one bump to be able to set something off. He didn't want to be the one who somehow managed to kill them all.

Hackett didn't want to be that one either.

"Admiral," the biotic murmured as he left the bomb floating in front of Hackett. "We should probably disarm it right away. I don't know for how long I can hold this."

Hackett nodded. He knew that biotic abilities could have their limits, and lifting a bomb wasn't the same as lifting up a person. If he knew how long it took him to drain when he lifted up a person, he would only know that holding the bomb would last longer. But, how much longer? That was an uncertainty.

Hackett had to put his gun away before he stepped over. It was harder to deal with the bomb through the biotic field around him - it felt like small sparks hitting his hands - but he managed to disarm the bomb just like he had the other. And, then it was a piece of junk.

The biotic let it drop; nothing happened besides a small thud from the impact.

There. Now this bomb was useless. Unless someone reactivated it for whatever reason, but as of right now, the chances of that happening were slim. Once they found and disarmed everything, however, it might be a good idea to collect it all to dispose of properly. Rouge wouldn't want these things to end up falling into the wrong hands - whether those hands belonged to someone malicious or just plain dumb.

She listened in on the noises all around them, picking out what was useful from everything that wasn't.

"I hear... five sets of beeps left." Rouge left the cat and approached the others. "Your soldiers work pretty fast, admiral." As expected of soldiers of their caliber. They were going to get this done way before the detonation time, provided that there were no other unexpected twists along the way.

While sudden twists often provided enjoyable challenges, Rouge just wanted to get this done and over with.

Hackett was glad that that was dealt with so quickly and smoothly. Things could have gone horribly wrong if they had messed up the grabbing of the bomb, though Hackett had no doubt that his soldier would have been able to catch the bomb when it had dropped. If he had thought there had been any risks of a mistake, he wouldn't have called the biotic up.

"Let's get to those next bombs," Hackett said. The soldier departed to take care of the pieces of the now disarmed bomb. To Rouge, he said, "I'll meet you back down there and we can get looking for the other ones."

He was sure that his soldiers would be able to help find the rest and disable them; they were doing a very fine job right now. But, he also wasn't just going to sit around and wait for them to do all of the bombs for him. He was still going to try and disable the ones that he could.

With that thought in mind, Hackett headed back into the building since he needed to make his way back down to the street. Luckily, no one stopped him along the way and he got back down to the street, stopping just outside the building.

He was still to feel a bit winded, but he simply started to control his breathing to try and keep it calm. It was moments like this that reminded him of his age and how the physical activity he had always done was taking a toll on his body.

While they could sit back and just wait while the soldiers took care of the remaining bombs, Rouge would rather go look for them. It would be faster if she helped, and she didn't feel like sitting around, twiddling her thumbs. Hackett had started making his way down through the building and she let him have a head start, since she would get down there before him, anyway.

"Bye, kitty," she said to the cat. "You be good, okay?" The cat meowed in response before the bat took off into the night air, flying around the building a few times as she descended to ground level.

Rouge was waiting for Hackett as he appeared at the front door. It was kind of admirable how he was keeping up at his age. She could tell that all this moving around was staring to wear on him - the truth couldn't be hidden from these ears. "There's only three left now. One is about a block down that way." Rouge pointed before starting to head there, flying at a pace that the admiral could keep up with.

How long had it been now since they had come to Infinity Fortress? Hackett wondered if the soldiers that had been left to take care of their original mission had completed it yet. He hadn't gotten any reports just yet, but it was possible that they thought it would be best to maintain radio silence while the others were dealing with the bomb issue. Hackett knew they hadn't run into any trouble because that would have been the thing for them to report to him.

Either way, it was about time they dealt with the rest of the issue.

Rouge was already here, and she knew how many bombs were left and just where they were. That was useful. Hackett thought it might have been possible they would be still trying to find the first bomb if it wasn't for her. He was thankful to her. He had never been one of those soldiers who had the idea in his head that having outside help was something he shouldn't do.

Shepard had outside help. It was possible the galaxy wouldn't have been saved otherwise.

"Lead the way to the next," he said. It was time to find the next bomb and disarm it.

Rouge followed the sound to another building, entering through its doorway - the door itself had been lost a long time ago, from the looks of it. There were no stairs they needed to climb this time, as the bomb was on the ground floor. She flew down the hallway, paused and waited for Hackett to catch up, then went into an old bedroom. The bomb wasn't in sight.

But she knew where it was hidden. Grabbing one end of the bed - there was only a torn mattress resting in the frame - Rouge dragged it away from the corner. She kept it steady, because if she swerved it by accident, that mistake might be her last.

The bomb sat on the floor that was once underneath the bed, beeping away.

"Your men just disarmed another one, from the sounds of it," Rouge reported. "So it's just this bomb and one more." Getting the last two shouldn't take long at all.

There was part of Hackett that was started to crave something warm to drink, like tea. Or, really, anything to drink at all. He had been moving quite a bit that day. He had to curse himself just a little for his old bones, though he knew that the lifestyle of humans had grown in the past few decades and he wasn't necessarily considered elderly. Not anymore. But it still didn't help that he spent most of his days not doing physical activity.

That was the price he paid for taking the admiral's job, he supposed. A whole lifetime of field work was now being pushed to the side for paperwork and telling others what to do.

Hackett made it to the building that he had seen Rouge go into. This time, there wasn't any more stairs for him to climb.

Good.

"That it, huh?" he muttered as he made his way over to the bomb. If there was only one more after this one, his men would be able to deal with it and they would be able to go back to assisting in the mission they had originally come here to do. Even if he wanted t go have that cup of tea, he would wait until they had accomplished their mission before taking off for that. Tea could wait.

But, this bomb couldn't, so Hackett got to work on diffusing it.

Rouge watched as Hackett disarmed the bomb, listening carefully to that other set of beeping far off in the distance. Such a steady pattern; by now, it was getting tedious to listen to. There wasn't anything interesting about listening to bombs beep, although she knew that it was necessary in her line of work to pay attention to them. It might save her life and the lives of others.

Then that distant beeping was abruptly cut off.

"The other one's done." All they had left now was this one. Rouge couldn't wait to get this over with. Eliminating the threat of this place blowing up was one thing, but the relative silence that would inevitably reign once this bomb was disarmed would be like music to her ears. Then she could get back to what she had been doing before this mess, while the admiral and his men could go back to whatever they needed to do.

Hackett finished with the bomb, and the soft beeping that came from it stopped. He took the time to start pulling out essential pieces from it so someone wouldn't be able to start it up again until they replaced it. He even took the time to pry the control board off of it. It looked like nothing more than a scrap of junk now, so he tossed it to the floor, where a scavenger would be able to pick it up and use it for whatever need they had to.

He stood up straight with a slight grown. Rouge said the other bomb was done. That meant they didn't need to look for any anymore. Good.

There was a soft alert in his ear, followed by the voice of one of his soldiers. "Admiral, we've located our quarry and are closing in to apprehend them. We'll send you the coordinates so we can meet up."

"Roger that," he replied before looking back at Rouge. Normally, someone wouldn't have been able to pick up the conversation, but he was sure that she had. "I suppose you already heard that. I'll have to head out then. It was good to work with you. I look forward to meeting up again in the future, though I'm hoping it will be in less urgent circumstances."

He snapped her a quick salute before turning to leave the building, lifting his arm so he could read the coordinates that were flashing on his omni-tool.
