They had a bit of a plan. Most of their day seemed to be going through a series of not quite sure what they were doing but trying it anyways. It wasn't the sort of plan Armstrong would normally approve of, but there wasn't much more they could do in this sort of situation. They didn't have time to research it out, nor were they anywhere that they could actually perform any sort of research.

He waited as Dylas passed the chain to Pikachu. She took it and out stretched, having found a break in the chain somewhere. Armstrong knew what she wanted as she called to him, even if she wasn't using any sort of speech he, as a human, would be able to understand. He liked to believe that he and Pikachu developed a bond akin to those that Pokemon had with their trainers, even if he wasn't quite one of those. They spent nearly a year together, after all.

Armstrong went over to her, once more tapping his fists gently together before he poked the break in the chain with a finger. When he moved his hand away, it was fixed as if there had never been a break to begin with.

"There we go," he murmured quietly.

While they only had the bare bones of a plan, Miranda felt like they were making some progress. She watched as Armstrong went to fix the chain. Once Pikachu was satisfied that the chain was flawless, the Electric-type gathered it up in her arms again and carried back into Time Recovery's field, handing it back to Dylas. It seemed like he was all set to charge it somehow - Miranda wasn't sure how he was going to do that, but she could see how this plan was going to go.

There wasn't any doubt in her mind now that someone used this chain on Dylas. Now they were going to use it in an attempt to return him to normal.

"I think..." she started, glancing at Arystar, "that maybe you should hold onto the chain once he's done charging it." Dylas wouldn't be able to hold onto it once she dismissed Time Recovery, and Armstrong would likely be the one who would step up to keep him from attacking them in case he went wild again. They weren't sure if Dylas would, but it was better for them to be careful. If they were supposed to get this chain around him somehow, then Pikachu wouldn't be able to do that on her own.

Miranda had her hands full with Time Record, so that left Arystar.

Arystar watched as Armstrong went to fix the chain at Pikachu's behest. Seeing alchemy was always something that amazed him. He only ever read about such techniques in fantasy books as a child, so seeing it in person again and again was something that was almost like a life changer. He shook his head and turned his attention back to what was going on. He didn't need to daydream right now.

He listened as Miranda spoke before nodding his head.

"I can do that," he said. If he couldn't even hold onto a simple chain, what good was he? He was fully capable of defending himself too if something went horribly wrong. And, he liked to believe that he would be able to defend Miranda too. But, all he needed to do was hold a chain and that was simple enough a task that even he could do that.

He jut had to hope that everything went okay.

Dylas
© Jen // CURRENTLY Offline

When Pikachu handed Dylas back the chain, he took it, examining it again. While he wasn't known for thinking about his plans - really, he preferred charging into things and figuring it out later - he wanted to be absolutely sure that whatever they were going to do next might have a chance in returning him to normal. Messing with runes was known to cause crazy shit to happen, and he'd rather not have anything happen to these people, who were nice enough to help him out.

"Runes are basically life energy," he said, "so if this place is like every other place out in nature, I can draw upon it." It wasn't an ability normal people in his world had. But Earthmates were able to and due to Dylas' past, so was he. Pulling energy from the air around them and the ground beneath their feet, he channeled it through the chain, causing the symbols etched into the links to glow steadily.

Okay, that was done. Time for the rest.

Dylas handed the chain to Arystar. "When I change back, throw this on me." That was the only thing he could think of - get the chain around his neck, or on his back. He took a few steps away from the others, then nodded to Armstrong. He was counting on the big guy to grab him in case he couldn't remember them.

Hopefully, he would remember. They were good people, and he didn't want to harm them. If he could keep his mind and memories when he returned to being Thunderbolt, then that was fine. The thought that he might forget troubled him, but he couldn't continue running around wild and attacking random people. Dylas had friends to return to.

Armstrong followed after Pikachu back to the other three. The chain was now repaired and so they were able to proceed with the plan that Dylas had. Armstrong knew it wasn't the most solid of plans, but there wasn't a whole lot they could do otherwise. There was only so many things they could come up with in the situation they were in, and Dylas was the most versed in this thing. If one of them had an idea of what to do, then it was going to be him.

Once it was getting to be time for their plan, Armstrong moved himself so he was more behind Dylas. If he went feral - so to speak - then Armstrong wanted the best advantage when it came down to dealing with him. If he was behind him, it would take just that much longer for him to be able to react to Armstrong's attempt to restrain him.

"Please proceed," Armstrong said. He kept one fist outward, ready for alchemy to be performed. He would use it instead of brute strength; he didn't want to crush Dylas by accident.

It was her turn to do her part, wasn't it? Miranda took a deep breath. Once she released her hold on time, things were going to be either calm or chaotic. It depended whether or not Dylas could remember them. She hoped he did, not just because she didn't want him to attack them, but it would be sad that he suddenly couldn't remember them. They just met him, but she almost felt like they were friends already.

"Three, two... one." Miranda deactivated Time Recovery and time flowed back into place.

There was a huff and the heavy clatter of hooves, and Miranda found herself staring into the eyes of the beast that had attacked them when they got here. Only this time, he wasn't attacking them. She saw a few crackling arcs of electricity here and there, but none of it was directed towards them. The unicorn stood there calmly, serene despite its ferocious appearance.

Miranda's eyes widened at the sharp contrast of between then and now.

"I got it," Arystar said with a nod as he took the chain. The grip he had on it was tight, and he had to tell himself to loosen it before he accidentally broke it. Sometimes, he forgot he was stronger than any human had to right to be, particularly in his hands and teeth. His Innocence made sure of that. He could still remember how he was entirely unaware of that being the case. It was almost odd looking back on it.

Arystar made sure he was near Dylas, taking a deep breath. In his mind, he counted down the seconds as Miranda got her Time Record to do what it was they wanted to do. Just as it was odd seeing Dylas turn from unicorn to human, it was just as odd seeing him go back. It wasn't some weird morphing change that took several seconds, but that made it all the more startling.

He hesitated a moment, unsure of if Dylas was going to attack or not. He really hoped not. He had come to like Dylas in their short time together, and he didn't want the Major to have to use his powers against him. The Major was strong; he might do some serious damage.

After the moment had passed, Arystar tossed the chain at Dylas, getting it around his neck.

Dylas
© Jen // CURRENTLY Offline

Dylas was back to being Thunderbolt before he could even think about anything else. His survival instincts rose up in the back of his mind, but he didn't act upon them. This time, he was in control; he wasn't about to lash out at the humans who were helping him. He didn't get all that much time to, for he spotted Arystar throwing the chain around his neck and he changed again.

It was so sudden that it startled him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Letting out a low hiss as he sat up, Dylas muttered a few choice words under his breath as he pressed a hand to the side of his head. The impact only hurt a little. What was worse was the headache he now had - probably the result of switching forms so quickly within such a short time. It wasn't going to disappear right away, so he pulled the chain off his neck and held it in his hands.

It looked like its runes had been depleted again. Dylas flexed his fingers around it. It might sound stupid, but he was kind of glad that he had fingers right now.

"Think that did it," he said, looking up the others.

Armstrong waited, knowing he was tense. That was completely natural, and it wasn't a feeling he was unfamiliar with. Going onto any sort of military mission, one simply grew tense. Being lax wasn't a good sign. While it was fine to be good at combat, one should never get comfortable in it. Comfortable meant lowering your guard and lowering your guard could lead to death.

When Dylas changed, Armstrong gave a start, but there was no need for him to do anything. He was changed back from his unicorn form to his humanoid form almost immediately. Armstrong's tensed shoulders relaxed. If they didn't need to worry anymore, he would be quite thankful.

"That is good to hear," Armstrong said before hooking his fists under Dylas' arms and hauling him to his feet as if he was a small child. Armstrong found the weight of most other people to be quite light. Honestly, he felt most of them could do with eating some more food. Dylas could probably do with that too. He felt too light to Armstrong. He himself was quite a heavy man, though most of that was pure muscle.

"Are we to hope you will remain this way?" Armstrong inquired. "Or, is there something else we should do?"

Miranda was very relieved that their plan worked. Even if Dylas hadn't attacked them, she wouldn't want him to remain a unicorn against his will. To her, it felt like he much preferred being human, even if his other form had left its mark on his appearance. At least in this world, there were a lot of other people who had animal features just like him.

"I no longer have Time Recovery active, and he's not changing again..." she observed as Pikachu climbed up her back and hung onto her shoulder, "so I think he's stable. I h-hope so, anyway." That probably meant that his runes were balanced again. Miranda didn't know anything about runes, but if there were problems caused by something being unbalanced, then often they were fixed when the balance was right again.

What worried her now was how Dylas ended up with this problem to begin with. Nearly everything pointed to the theory that someone he didn't know had done this to him.

Arystar couldn't help himself; he felt a little tense waiting to see what exactly was going to go on. When everything turned out alright and Dylas turned back to a human, Arystar slumped, feeling and looking visibly relieved. He was glad they didn't need to do anything drastic, and that everything turned out nicely. There was so many ways this could possibly go wrong, and he wasn't sure if they would be able to handle it right.

But, everything did turn out alright, and that was what mattered most.

"I'm glad," he said with a smile on his face. "I'm hoping this sticks as well. I don't know what else we could possibly do, otherwise."

Arystar glanced around. They were still close to the lake, but it wasn't in very right now. The trees they were in blocked it front sight. They also blocked the rest of the Hill of Memories that the lake area was in. And, to be perfectly honest, this landscape was starting to wear on him. Maybe they needed a change of location to make sure everything looked the way it needed to and stayed that way.

"Maybe we should leave here now," Arystar said. "Just in case. Make sure nothing does awry."

Dylas
© Jen // CURRENTLY Offline

Before Dylas was able to stand up on his own, Armstrong hauled him to his feet. Damn, he was strong. Good thing he didn't end up fighting this guy, Thunderbolt or not. Wrapping the chain around one hand, he slipped it off and then stuffed it into one of his pockets. It was his only clue as to who had done this to him; he wasn't about to let whoever did this get off scot-free. He planned to repay the favor with a punch to the face.

Admittedly, the chain might also be helpful to him later, in case he ended up transforming again for some other reason.

"Not sure how I would've gotten outta that mess without you guys." Dylas normally didn't say a lot to strangers, but these guys had helped him when they could've left him alone. And then he would've been stuck as Thunderbolt for longer, attacking whoever else visited the lake. "Thanks. Really mean it."

Arystar suggested that they leave now and he had to agree. Dylas had seen enough of this place and he currently didn't feel all that comfortable here. For now, he was going to stick with them. Even if he wasn't much of a people person, he understood safety in numbers. And also... he didn't want to be alone right now.

Ah, it looked like everything had gone as well as it could. Armstrong was glad. While they had only just met Dylas, he did not want anything ill to befall him. It would be better if they could have this whole affair done and over with, though he was sure they still needed to make sure that it was going to go that way. He hoped they would be able to help Dylas out in case something else happened.

"Then, let us be off," Armstrong announced. He agreed. It would be for the best if they left this forest. Sometimes, all it took to make a situation better was to change one's location. He knew it was too optimistic to assume that would always be in the case, but Armstrong liked to believe. Optimism was one of many traits to be passed down through the Armstrong line for generations, after all!

With a nod to his companions, Armstrong began to lead the way out, his large frame knocking brushes out of the way and carving a path for the others to follow.
