Silence... was not the word to describe this town during afternoon hours. The sun was still out, and there were people everywhere... And Shadow didn't like it. Well, that was one way to put it, anyway. During times like these, Shadow would normally search for a place to hide, but that didn't seem possible in this case. There were shadows, but surprisingly they were to little for him to hide even a little well.

Well, it could, but it would be a rather pointless attempt, and it seemed like he'd have to stand on his toes. Honestly, he didn't want to be hidden that badly. It wasn't like he was allergic to the sun or anything, he just didn't like the possibility of a group of people staring at him. He wasn't afraid of it or anything, he just didn't like it.

Needless to say, despite being an anthropomorphic, giant, red and black hedgehog that stood in the middle of the sidewalk, these people seemed too interested in getting whatever errands or jobs needed to be done to worry about him... Odd?

Not that he was complaining, but... wasn't that an abnormality here? Maybe he was still on his home planet after all, he's just... never been on this part of it before. Which was impressive seeing as he's assisted in saving, and trying to destroy, that world more than once and there still managed to be parts of it he'd never seen? Perhaps he should have known all he could about the planet before trying to destroy it, but again, that was never Shadow's concern.

Even now, the people paid him just as little heed as he paid them. Just like in any other encounter with the strange and mystical, this was just another mystery he needed to solve. How'd he even get to this place? And, if this was his home planet, why did the transportation take his emerald away? Was Sonic and his friends all transported as well?

Maybe Rouge was transported! But then why wouldn't they be in the same place?

Ugh, there was just way too many questions! Shadow hated being left in the dark like this. It was almost like having amnesia all over again without any of the actual memory loss, but more importantly, none of the clues.

Well, it wasn't like standing here would do any good. So Shadow decided that now was as good a time as any to search the town for clues as to why he was there. And as anyone who knew him knew well, his opinion was the only one that mattered to him anyway, So Shadow followed the path paved for him by the sidewalk, as well as any lines forming paths to the next block, in which any drivers knew to stop at. He wasn't going particularly fast, because speed wasn't the best tool to use for investigating.

This world never ceased to amaze him.

As the Top Ranger walked along, his sizable group of pokémon sniffed along the sidewalk. They had never seen such a strange place, and all but Pachirisu, who was perched on his shoulder, seemed enraptured by the smells and people who passed by.

There were pokémon even here, Pidgeys and small birds mainly, but his observant eyes had spotted a Rattata or two, even a Houndour skulking in a backalley. It was amazing how pokémon had come to coexist, even in places that Kellyn was certain they had never been part of prior. There was a strange, calm feeling to this place despite the activity, and he could feel the presence of Ghost-types around them somewhere.

Of course Kellyn liked Ghost-types as well. He didn't see them often, but his only gripe with them would be that it's a pain to capture them when they disappear all the time.

His newest capture, Lycanroc seemed particularly interested in this place, and Kellyn found himself saddened by the sight, considering that perhaps it had been a Shadow Pokémon when it ended up here. It appeared to be experiencing this world for the first time despite having likely been here longer than Kellyn had himself.

The wolf-like pokémon lifted it's head abruptly, it's red eyes giving a faint glow. He scratched at the ground in what seemed to be anticipation, and began to run off down a cross street.

"Lycanroc? What's wrong, buddy?" Kellyn called after him, giving a whistle to the other four to get them to follow him closely. The last thing he needed was them getting lost in this place- as much as it was intriguing, he had no idea how to get around it.

Lycanroc barreled down the street, following a scent, and by the time Kellyn caught up, Lycanroc had already jumped on someone and was... licking them. Kellyn covered his mouth, hiding a snicker as he watched. "Oh man... sorry about that. Lycanroc must really like you. Hey buddy, come here." Hearing Kellyn's order, Lycanroc backed off a little, though he did so begrudgingly.

As he made his way slowly through the town, Shadow found himself at a loss. So far no sign of anyone he knew, or even faces he'd seen before in Station Square, or anyone else in the planet. It wasn't like he cared about people enough to remember the face of everyone he say, but Shadow would still remember a face or two every once and a while, or at least think someone looked familiar.

Even the animals, though, looked rather strange. There were birds, and rats, and dogs, just like in any city, but there was something off about some of them. He'd certainly never seen purple rats before. Or, rather, never any that weren't anthropomorphic. There also seemed to be a dog wondering around. A black and red dog...

...Gosh this place was weird. And that's saying a lot considering that in his world, a scientist over fifty years ago create a super weapon capable of piercing the stars. The sooner he found out what the heck was going on and got the heck out of there, the better.

As if things couldn't get any worse, there seemed to be a sound of strange barking. Despite his tendencies to stay on his toes in most situations, he was so unprepared for the creature that ended up jumping on him, though didn't knock him down, that he almost lost his balance. "Wha-?" the black hedgehog voiced his surprise and confusion before being smothered by the saliva that came with the creature licking all over his face.

This, actually caused him to fall down as he angrily tried to push the canine off of him. "Off!" Shadow commanded rather sternly, though he tried not to harm the dog too badly. Once he managed to get him off, Shadow dusted himself off and got back on his face. He didn't answer the boy's apology, since he didn't feel like anything good would come out of "You better keep that dog on a leash." He was also a tad distracted, and grossed out, by the saliva that was all over him.

Though perhaps deep down he was flattered that the animal wasn't afraid of him. Though, if that was the case, he certainly didn't show any signs. Also, the fact that it was sort of bipedal kind of helped, but not really.

Shadow looked up at the boy, who seemed to bring an entire brigade of canines, and for the cherry on top of this insanity, there was a squirrel on his shoulder. Shadow wasn't even going to focus on its odd appearance, just the fact that there was a squirrel on the boy's shoulder among a pack of dogs who should be having that rodent for lunch made this all the more odd to him. However, there was only one reaction he made as he made an attempt to keep moving forward. "Hmph."

The sooner he got out of here the better indeed.

Kellyn tilted his head at the chilly reception, not quite understanding why this... strange person... was so frustrated over an overexcited pokémon that seemed to really like him. It didn't really make any sense to Kellyn, but he supposed it wasn't quite his business. Unfortunately it seemed that Lycanroc had other plans and began following after the black and red hedgehog.

Suddenly it hit him that perhaps Lycanroc wasn't following for Shadow, but rather to get Kellyn to. "Hey, um.. are you new here? You seem kinda lost." He commented, a faint smile still on his face. The other's reaction had been off-putting but Kellyn had definitely encountered worse people in his time than a grumpy talking hedgehog. "Well welcome to the Goddess's World, if you are.

"Pa pachi."
Pachirisu added, his tone annoyed. The rodent crossed his arms, cheeks sparking, and Kellyn chuckled slightly, moving to pat his partner as he chastised his behavior, "Don't be like that, Pachirisu."

It seemed as though the darn mutt was rather persistent. To Shadow's utter dismay, the dog continued following him, though the hedgehog refused to even acknowledge the mutt's presence. Or the kid's presence for that matter. Sure the kid tried to be nice, and asked if he was lost or whatever, but if pictures meant a thousand words, than the expression on Shadow's face spoke volumes.

Despite being capable of being violent, in general, Shadow can be very patient. He continued to allow them to follow him for no other reason than they weren't getting in his way or anything. He was also still very curious as to what those creatures were that were following him around.

Electricity was burning on the squirrel's cheeks, causing the Ultimate Lifeform's eyebrow to arch. That wasn't something most people would miss, and certainly not for someone as attentive as Shadow to. So that squirrel had powers of some sort? Did some of these other strange creatures have powers as well?

Well, one thing was for certain, it was probably for the best that a creature with no powers, like a human, would have creatures with powers to protect them. That's pretty much what Sonic and his friends do on a day to day basis with the occasional help from Shadow.

Still, the canine's persistence was starting to annoy him as he had to struggle to keep himself from being too harsh. "Hm!" Shadow eyed down at the dog trying to intimidate it into leaving him alone. No one knew if it was because his eyes were red, or that he was just plain scary, but Shadow could just look at some people the right, or in some cases wrong, way and they'd know he meant business.

Shadow's glare only seemed to amuse the Lycanroc, he rose to his back paws, red eyes glowing as he gave Shadow a toothy smile. Kellyn walked up unflinching, ruffling the fur on Lycanroc's head, "Down, Lycanroc. He doesn't want to play." The pokémon grumbled and lowered back on all fours, though he seemed very focused on Shadow still.

"My name is Kellyn." He pressed, not amused by the attempts to push them away. If Shadow wanted him to leave, he was going to have to use his words, and not just try intimidating him. After all, capturing a raging Rampardos, stopping a ship from sinking, and being nearly killed many times over made him immune to harsh looks. It would take more than that to discourage him.

"If you have questions, I might be able to help," Kellyn offered, still petting Lycanroc to preoccupy him. Lycanroc certainly had a lot of energy, and for some reason he had his heart set on playing with Shadow. Kellyn couldn't imagine why unless Lycanroc knew something he didn't. Perhaps The hedgehog was lonely or something and that's why he acted that way, but without proof there was nothing to base that on.

Shadow wasn't amused by any of this. The more this group insisted on tagging along with him the less thrilled Shadow was. Since the kid wasn't taking the hint, the Ultimate Lifeform quickly realized that he would have to change tactics. Apparently this brat didn't get the memo that he shouldn't mess around with people who didn't want to be bothered when she was teaching him manners.

Not that he cared. He just wanted the brat to leave him alone.

At least the dog seemed to take the hint, though he still seemed rather eager to follow, and interested in, Shadow. Oh joy. Not only did he have to consider the whereabouts of his friends, put up with this kid that refused to leave him alone despite his attempts to restrain his anger; on top of all that this mutt insists on following him!

The kid introduced himself, but Shadow didn't answer right away. Despite the fact that it wasn't causing the kid to go away, Shadow wanted to make it perfectly clear that he was not impressed by the kid's - oh, wait, he has a name now, Kellyn (isn't that a girl's name?) - persistence in following him. None the less, he did eventually answer him, though it wasn't a very enthusiastic reply. He simply said, "Shadow." without missing a beat or so much as glancing at the kid's direction.

"As a matter of fact," Shadow began answer the offer as calmly as he'd been the entire time. "Your assistance is unnecessary. I can find my way around just fine on my own, and I don't need the help of some scrawny little kid, his mutts, or his rodents. I've got things to do, kid, so quit bothering me, or you'll regret it."

Yep. That seems to be the best way Shadow handled situations like this. If all else failed, resort to violence. Hopefully that painted a clear enough picture for him.

Now whether or not Shadow was true to his word... Well, he probably was. There had never been an instant before this that Shadow hadn't intended to carry out a threat should the prerequisites be met. Hopefully this kid will take the hint, because it didn't seem like Shadow was feeling exceptionally merciful today.

Kellyn took a moment to process the threat made, and the insults he made towards his friends. His friendly smile dropped nigh immediately, morphing into a stern frown. Kellyn was a nice person, yes, but his nice disposition didn't translate into a doormat passive person. No. He didn't take insults and threats lying down.

"Look, Shadow. I was only trying to be nice and give you some answers because you seemed new to this world, but if you're going to treat my friends poorly and threaten me for no reason when we did nothing but try to help, you aren't going to make anything but enemies here."

Giving Lycanroc a smile, he petted the pokémon who had taken to growling menacingly at the hedgehog, "He's not worth it, boy. Let's go. We have a patrol to finish."

With an icy glance to Shadow, Kellyn added, "I'll leave you be, clearly someone like you is destined to be alone." With that, he began walking off, his posse of pokémon following close behind

Shadow listened to everything the kid had to say with the same scowl he always wore. His expression completely unreadable, the hedgehog did nothing to stop the kid from pouring his emotions out. Perhaps he may have gotten a rather negative emotion out of Shadow if it weren't for one teeny little problem: this "Kellyn" kid, was a complete stranger. In other words, he didn't know a thing about Shadow other than his name. Whoopee, congratulations, he knew Shadow's name! Oh, wait, Shadow knew the kid's name too! Maybe they should have achieved Nobel Prizes!

Oh wait, but Shadow never said Kellyn's name because he didn't care.

This Kellyn kid didn't know Shadow's past, the hardship the hedgehog had to go through to get where he was at that very moment, and all the disrespect and hatred humans like him subjected him to. The only reason why the hedgehog hadn't already smite him from existence is for two reasons: One, his friend didn't want that. And two, he was no longer interested in doing such a thing despite all the torment humans like him had put him through.

And to so ignorantly ignore Shadow's attempts to quietly make it clear as crystal that he wanted to be left alone, which the hedgehog knew he understood what his glances meant he wasn't stupid, and then to criticize him by making the bold claim that Shadow would make nothing but enemies, something he didn't care about, would have upset anyone else, perhaps.

The only thing that made him consider, and only consider, the fact that he may have been too harsh was the fact that the once friendly canine was now growling menacingly at him. However, this only caused Shadow to glare down at the dog, sharing their mutual disinterest in each other. Or, rather, it seemed as though it hated the hedgehog now, where as Shadow wouldn't go that far. Not yet anyway. Shadow didn't like being around the majority of people, but hate was a strong word, and only reserved for those whom are worthy to be despised by the Ultimate Lifeform.

Some kid and his dog was hardly worth that.

Then the kid made another bold claim that Shadow was destined to be alone before walking off, assuming that the Ultimate Lifeform even cared. Well, it was clear that he probably wouldn't want to run into that kid again. What a brat. Clearly Shadow would end up better off elsewhere. And so, off he went to journey on, perhaps to discover how he came to such a place. Who knew, really? All Shadow knew was that he was done with that city and that he was ready to move on.
