When Mayuyu thought about having a bright and glitzy AKB0048 performance, Dunwall was not the city she would have imagined in her head, even though they had held performances in places that were just as poor and despairing as this place. It was almost sad to look upon it.

But, they had been working on trying to figure out how to get their idol group moving again because that was what they lived for, and Dunwall was as good a place as any to start.

"Watch your step," she called to the others as she hopped off the ramp from the boat to the dock. It was chilly in the air, but Mayuyu seemed unfazed by it. Instead, her gaze - which looked almost sleepy though she was far from it - looked out over the docks. They were there to meet someone, someone from their own world who had heard they were here and had sent word that they wanted to get the girls to put on a show for the orphan kids they were helping take care of, to cheer them up.

Taking a good look at this place, anyone who lived here could probably use a little cheer in their lives.

And, it didn't matter what kind of shows they were putting on, big or small. The most important thing was letting the people of the Goddess' World know that AKB0048 was here, even if it was only the three of them right now.

"Mayuyu doesn't seem them," she murmured, holding one hand over her eyes as if to shield them from the sun. It was unnecessary, as the sun wasn't even out but hidden behind clouds that looked as if they were threatening to rain. The rain wouldn't bother Mayuyu much. It might have helped with the smell of the place.

Acchan stepped off the ramp, gazing at a city she normally only passed through in order to get to either the rest of the Eastern Continent or the ocean.

Dunwall wasn't... that bad. Honestly, she had been to a place far worse than Dunwall, and she hoped that their quest to cheer up and encourage the masses with their music wouldn't lead them there. But they needed to start somewhere, and if that place was Dunwall, then that was where they had to be.

It was important, singing to others in order to cheer them up. And maybe she was looking at this city the wrong way. There was some good in Dunwall... she could tell. It was up to them to find it.

"Maybe they're a little further down the dock?" Acchan replied when Mayuyu said that she couldn't find their contact. The younger idol began to look as well. Maybe they had a sign, or something else that they could easily recognize...?

The girls were going to have their first appearance! It was going to be for a group of children staying in a home in Dunwall, and it was their job to cheer them up and perk up their very outlook on life. It was exciting to be back in the groove, even if it was just the three of them, and just a small little concert for a group of kids in a children’s home. Kojiharu lived for this type of work, just as the other girls of AKB0048 had. This was something they worked and strive for.

As Mayuyu and Acchan got off the ramp before her, Kojiharu stepped out and removed the pink shades she had been wearing. Dunwall was a bit of a cloudy place, so the sunglasses were, unfortunately, highly unnecessary. Besides, it seemed they had a bit of an issue that they had to deal with.

It seemed their contact was MIA!

Mayuyu was keeping an eye out, and Acchan had asked if they were maybe further down the dock, and Kojiharu stepped out a little further to see if she could perhaps spot their contact on the dock. Sometimes when they went out on outings like this, the people that were to pick them up from various places had signs or some way to differentiate themselves from the local crowd.

And that was when Kojiharu saw it, someone on the far end, holding a sign with the familiar double-o symbol that was of AKB0048. With a point of her finger, Kojiharu called out excitedly, “There! That’s it, right?!” to her friends.

The look on Mayuyu's voice was rather bright and cheery, just like one would have expected an idol, particularly one who was part of the AKB0048, to be wearing. It wasn't because she had a show to put on, per se. But, it was perfectly normal for Mayuyu to suddenly change expression like that. Whenever she was around people who weren't part of her idol group, it simply did that. She didn't really even think about it most of the time.

Where could their contact be though? They really needed to find them, otherwise they wouldn't have any idea of where exactly they were supposed to go...

Mayuyu turned to look back at Kojiharu when she shouted before following the way she was pointing. Mayuyu had to look past all sorts of dock workers and passengers who were coming and going, but then there it was.

The symbol she had come to know so well. The symbol that represented everything she was, and everything she and her friends fought for.

"That's them," Mayuyu said before she took off into the crowd. It wasn't that she was planning to leave them behind. It was more like she was making the crowd part for the other two. It was something she was particularly good at, even if she was a little on the short side.

Mayuyu came to a stop in front of the man who held the side. "AKB0048, reporting for duty!" she said immediately, snapping him a salute. He seemed surprised but saluted her back.

"I can't believe you girls made it out here," he said as he lowered the sign. "I've been telling the kids all about you. All about what you girls do back home." He had that look in his eye, the one Mayuyu knew came from someone who lived on a planet that had the entertainment ban.

Kojiharu had spotted it first. Even then, Acchan couldn't quite see it, and she was even standing on tiptoe, trying to look past and over people who were in her line of sight. Mayuyu took off that way, so she followed after her, making sure she stayed close so she wouldn't get separated from her friends.

Once they were close enough to their contact, Acchan finally got to see the sign. That symbol... that symbol that represented what they fought for and the hope that they gave to others. Acchan hadn't seen it in months, but the mere sight of it brought everything back to her.

She stopped next to Mayuyu - although about a step further back than her - and smiled when she saw the man, and the look in his eye. "In a way, this planet's like our home now..." she remarked. "We're really excited to get a chance to sing here." It didn't matter how small this seemed compared to the large, extravagant concerts that they normally staged. Singing for these children was just as important, if not more.

Now that they had located their client, they headed their way over to the man holding the sign up. Mayuyu opened a path for them through the crowd, Kojiharu following after with a bright smile on her face. Now that they had located their client, they could start discussing what their little show was going to be like. It was time to brighten the young hearts of children in Dunwall, and bring some light to their life!

They stopped before the man, and Mayuyu stated that they were reporting for duty. As the man spoke, Kojiharu found herself watching him carefully, seeing that jaded view in his eyes, the same she’d seen on her father. These were the eyes of someone who had lived through an entertainment ban. The look made her lose her smile for a moment before she forced it back on her face.

Acchan told the man about how the planet was their home now, and they were excited to sing. Kojiharu nodded in agreement and wrapped an arm around both of her girls’ shoulders. “Yes, it’s our job to get our music out there and bring it to the people around us. Like now! We’ll help the children. You can count on us!” She winked at the man, trying to get his mood back up. Now was not the time to focus on the past – they had the future to look forward to.

Mayuyu could see the man lighten up due to Acchan and Kojiharu's effort and words. That was good. The smile that was on Mayuyu's face when she noticed was one that was definitely genuine and not just instinct for her to put on while she was with people who weren't a part of her idol group or its production team. She thought the man feeling more at ease was something that was worth a smile, even if it seemed like such a small and simple thing to another person.

Mayuyu had seen what it was like to be without a smile. She didn't think people should have to live with such a thing.

"Lead the way!" Mayuyu said to the man. "Mayuyu, Acchan and Kojiharu will follow along!"

The man gave a nod before he started through the crowd, moving rather slowly. Mayuyu couldn't blame him for that. It seemed like peak business hours here at the docks, with so many people coming and going and getting their cargo unloaded or loading it up for the next stop, either at the Archipelago or the Western Continent.

Mayuyu didn't mind the slow pace one bit. It meant they could get a good look at Dunwall. It was so unlike the places she was used to visiting. Taking a slow walk through it didn't seem like a problem at all.

Acchan felt happy when the man's mood had lightened. Even if it didn't seem all that important, moments like these hit close to home for her, as she also lived on a planet that had an entertainment ban. She understood how he was feeling, and if they could brighten up the day for both him and the children, then...

As the three started to follow him through the crowded docks, Acchan walked between her two older friends, opting to hold onto their hands. Part of it was for safety - she didn't want to lose track of them in a place like this.

The other reason was a little less straightforward. One particular experience she had here on the Eastern Continent hadn't been... good. Even if it happened in a town some distance away, she still thought about it whenever she wound up on this side of the ocean. Acchan didn't mean to think about it, but at least she felt safer now that she was with two of the people she thought of as her older sisters.

With the man’s mood lifted, and all three girls feeling like they accomplished something, it was time to make their way to their destination. Mayuyu declared for him to lead the way, and onward he went. They were set at a wonderful pace, not too rushed, and with the chance to really take in the sights of Dunwall. It was so unlike anything that Kojiharu had ever seen before, so she glanced around in awe.

Acchan had slipped her hand in one of her own, so Kojiharu turned to give her a smile and a tight squeeze for a moment. It was soon going to be time for them to start their planning – to discussing songs, dances, and costumes. But, for now, they needed to stay close, to keep to each other and not lose one another.

Not again, not so soon after reuniting.

“So tell me,” Kojiharu piped up brightly, “do you know much about Dunwall? Nyan Nyan’s not been here yet, it’s my first time!” She was trying to lighten up the mood, to break the ice, and to at least give them all something to think about while they headed toward their final mark.

Mayuyu gave Acchan's hand a squeeze. It was warm and fit with her hand perfectly, as if it was meant to be, them holding hands. Mayuyu liked to think that it was. She found hand holding a sign of affection between her and her friends. There were no other people in the world that she would like to hold hands with at all.

The walk through Dunwall was certainly interesting. Mayuyu couldn't recall seeing a city quite like this one. She had even traveled to more planets than the other two who were with her, if only because she had been in the 0048 the longest and she still couldn't recall something like this place.

Kojiharu asked a question after the city. Before the man was able to answer her, Mayuyu piped, "Mayuyu heard this place is diseased." It sounded bad when she said it, but that was what she had heard. It was riddled with disease. Or, it was. Maybe it wasn't anymore. Mayuyu didn't even know for sure. No one really talked all too much about it.

Mayuyu couldn't really get sick - she had good built-in immunity system - but she didn't want the other two to get sick. They would need to be careful of that.

"Oh, yeah, that," the man said. "I haven't heard any news of the disease since I came here. I'm hoping it's gone. The city used to have it in the streets. I heard their Empress got killed at some point, too." He glanced off, as if looking towards the castle that wasn't in sight from where they were.

Right, Dunwall had a... rough history. A lot of places here did. So did a lot of the planets 0048 had gone to for shows. Dunwall had its share of troubles, from a disease to its empress getting killed. There were places on this planet that sounded like they had it worse, but Acchan still thought that what happened here was terrible.

"I hope things are getting better for the city as time goes on," she said, deciding to add her own two cents. "A place like this deserves to have a shot at a brighter future." Even if not everyone was a good person on the inside. This city was its own community and as a whole, Acchan thought that it could use any good news it could get.

Maybe just being on this planet was doing Dunwall some good, too. The more she traveled with her friends, the more Acchan saw how this world changed people, often for the better.
