Outwardly the large, circular building was intimidating, dark stone and detailed carvings, warriors of all types surrounding it, coming and going. Walking in, the hall gave way to a cavernous arena. The architecture had Vivi entranced. He'd scarce seen anything like it before, and while from the stands it appeared beautifully designed, he could only imagine what it was like to be down there, in the thick of battle all for the entertainment of other people. It was so barbaric... but apparently the Feroxi were defended from barbarians of some sort. That's what he had heard them say.

As far as he was aware, that wasn't a good thing, but maybe he was wrong.

He had only really come because he'd heard Morgan mention this place once and had gotten curious. He was beginning to think perhaps it hadn't been worth coming all this way without Morgan with him. The sounds of battle from the pit were concerning to him. Surely they wouldn't kill for sport, right?

Clutching a tome he'd bought, he began to read. Staves from this world were apparently used for white magic alone, and times for black magic. He's never used a tome in his life, but he was curious enough to at least try reading it and see if he could use it. Though now that he realized what the beautiful building was used for, it was seeming a less appropriate place to read than he thought.

Bad Girl

If Bad Girl could have kicked the doorway in for her grand entrance, she would have. But, she couldn't because it was too damn big, even for her, to dramatically kick in with a flourish. Bad Girl decided that was alright because it would have been possible for her to break her heels and this damn world didn't know how to make a good pair of heels that she could use to pierce a guy in the eyeball if she wanted to.

Piercing people in the eyeballs with her shoes wasn't why she was here, though. She was here to watch big buff dudes beat each other up. Because why else would someone come to Arena Ferox if not to watch big buff dudes beat each other up? Wrestling hadn't made its way to Santa Detroy since the Californian city had come to the Goddess' World, so she needed to get her kicks somewhere else.

And, of course, she wasn't getting her kicks alone.

"Where should we go to first, Kirby?" she asked her small precious child who was on her shoulder, his favourite spot to sit. Bad Girl wanted to make sure he had a good look at whatever it was he wanted to see here first before she indulged herself. Because Kirby was important, unlike pretty much everyone else.

And, there had to be something Kirby wanted to look at here, right?

Kirby murmured something, not really giving Bad Girl a reply. He was far too busy staring at everything. Wow, would you look at the size of this place! And look at all the people! All the weapons! He wasn't sure if anyone would be silly enough to attack Arena Ferox, but if there was someone out there who was thinking about it, they really didn't know just what kind of trouble they were getting themselves into. Kirby sure didn't want to end up on the wrong side of these guys!

Unless, you know, they were hoarding all the candy on the Eastern Continent to themselves. Were they?

No?

Then they were good.

The pink puffball looked around, but decided he couldn't really see anything that he would like to see first. Instead, his stomach answered for him, growling loudly in Bad Girl's ear. Oh! They should see what kind of food they had here! They definitely wanted to do that before they headed into the stands. They wouldn't want to sit there hungry while they watched fights.

Otherwise, he might end up eating the combatants instead of just watching them fight.

The young mage sighed softly, the noises of battle becoming too distracting to qualify as background noise. Too loud, too. Vivi closed the tome and shifted out of his seat since he was getting a little hungry. He probably should have thought about that when he bought this tome, but in his pursuit of knowledge, he'd forgotten about his stomach and the fact that it really wasn't as full as it should be.

Back in the early days of his life, he'd never gone hungry, Quan always had some sort of snack when he got hungry. He thought fondly of his grandpa while he walked, holding his new book close. Unfortunately he wasn't really looking where he was going as he walked, letting both his mind and feet wander. It hardly surprised him when he tripped over his own feet and fell, but with how busy this place seemed, he didn't want to stay on the ground. He might get stepped on, after all! Scooping up his book, he dusted himself off.

It took him a moment to realize he'd taken a dive right in front of someone in a nice pink dress and looked down, "S-sorry miss." He stuttered, heading towards a little food vendor not far away. He wasn't sure what kinds of things they had here, but it couldn't be more off than some of Quan's food, so he hurried to buy some and get back to his seat.

How embarrassing...

Kirby was hungry. It was pretty easy to tell when Kirby was hungry. Not to mention the fact that he was basically always hungry. It meant that Bad Girl could always count on him to be hungry, so she always knew how he felt. Basic relationship shit like that. She couldn't imagine why people couldn't figure that the fuck out. People were so unbelievably idiotic.

"Let's find you some munchies," Bad Girl said, sweetly, to her precious baby child. She turned to head further into the arena. She hadn't seen anywhere to buy food, but Bad Girl was pretty sure there had to be one. If there was something she knew about juice heads, it was that they really liked eating when they watched people beating each other up. Bad Girl couldn't blame them; she liked having shit to drink when she was watching people beat each other up. It made everything so much more entertaining when you were piss wasted.

Bad Girl hadn't gotten far when someone fell in her way. The first thing she did was stifle a laugh because watching people fall down was hella hilarious. She hoped he hurt himself.

It was then she got a good look at him, and he looked... well, she didn't know what he looked like. She hadn't seen someone who looked like that.

"What's up with your face?" she asked. She knew he apologized, but that wasn't important nor was it interesting to her. What was interesting was the fact he didn't look human at all. He was all black and shadowy and stuff. His eyes were glowing. She only imagined people with eyes like that she was under some sort of influence.

Yay! They were getting munchies! But they didn't get very far, because someone fell in front of Bad Girl. Then he got up, stuttered an apology and continued on towards what looked like food. It was food. Good food?

No, no. Wait, wait! That guy, he looked like one of the many kinds of beings that Kirby shared his home planet with! Only he was taller! Who was he? Where was he from? Why hadn't they met before? There were a lot of things Kirby wanted to ask, but he couldn't really say much and the mage was getting away.

Friend-making time!

"Poyo!" Kirby hopped off Bad Girl's shoulder, landed on the floor and dashed after the mage, circling around to face him once he had caught up. "Hi!" he voiced loud and clear. That was the first step to making friends: greeting your potential future friend! Kirby wasn't put off by how he looked - after all, he had seen a face like his many, many times before.

The girl had asked something while he was retreating that he couldn't quite catch while he was trying to get out of her way. It was then that something jumped off the girl's shoulder that he hadn't noticed in his haste. It seemed do be a pink blob creature or something. Definitely not outwardly threatening like some of the other things he'd seen around, but he had to wonder why it had decided to pursue him. He stopped in his tracks when the smaller, round being caught up to him, almost too suddenly. He wobbled as he settled, and looked at Kirby curiously, eyes blinking to express his his surprise, "Hello..."

It was odd to be approached without malice like this by a stranger, but it wasn't unwelcome, he actually quite liked not being stared at like a monster when he was just trying to go about his day, but this was like the exact opposite of normal for him, "Um.. My name is Vivi. What's your name?"
The little creature seemed really friendly from what he could tell, and it made Vivi relax a little. The small mage looked back at the lady in pink and tilted his head before looking back. Was she this pink guy's friend or guardian or something? Maybe they would want to be friends? It had been a while since he had friends to play with or talk to. He missed it.

Bad Girl rolled her eyes. If someone couldn't hear her when they weren't too far away from each other, especially with how fucking loud she always was, then they needed to get their ears checked. Normally, that would be the sort of occasion that Bad Girl would start swinging but she couldn't be bothered. She was hungry, and her and Kirby needed munchies.

Kirby, who had decided it was friend-making time. Sure, why not? Kirby actually had friends. Bad Girl didn't. She wasn't the type of person people liked making friends with. She didn't even know why. Something to do with assassinations and murder and how sometimes she plucked people's eyes out of their heads for fun. She didn't get it. It wasn't like you needed eyes. Blinded people got by just fine all the time.

"Kirby, I'm gonna grab us food," she said as she went past, heading to the food stall. Wow, this shit was expensive. It was like trying to buy food at a sports game. Not a lot of options but you needed a whole lot of dough. That was probably why Bad Girl normally just took the food at the stadium in Santa Destroy. Not only did she live there, but the people who ran it sort of just let her. Because she had threatened to kill them at some point in time. Bad Girl couldn't even remember when that was, though. It was a while ago. It was good to know her threats had lasting effects.

Bad Girl didn't know what to buy, so she bought one of everything, sticking the end of a drumstick in her mouth as she carried her load back over to the other two. Kirby would like this. He really fucking loved food.

Kirby was sure this mage wasn't one of the ones back on his home planet. Otherwise, he would've recognized him. Everyone there knew who Kirby was. Also, most of the inhabitants were Kirby's height, including the mages Vivi resembled so much.

Anyway, Vivi sounded like a very nice name. "Kaabii!" the puffball replied, just in case Vivi didn't catch his name when Bad Girl had said it. Then he pointed at the human woman's back as she ventured off to get tasty food. "Mama." Kirby couldn't really pronounce Bad Girl's name and she was essentially his mom on this planet, so he called her that whenever he actually had to call her anything. She seemed happy whenever he did that, so he had no reason to stop.

When Bad Girl returned with food, Kirby's stomach growled again, causing him to glance down at it. Soon, stomach! He was making friends here. Friends who weren't for eating. Food could wait for just a tiny bit longer!

Kirby, huh? That was definitely an interesting name, but he thought it fit the smaller, pink creature. He'd seen many strange things and met many weird people, so Kirby didn't bother him. Communicating might be difficult, but he wasn't opposed to comfortable silence when he was with friends. Vivi hummed in acknowledgement when Kirby said his name back. He'd heard the woman say it, so at least he'd avoid the embarrassment of mimicking what Kirby said until it clicked.

"Kirby is a nice name! And she's your mother?"
He looked at the woman as she bought food, presumably for herself and her child, based on the amount, "She's pretty." He decided. She had the air of someone you didn't want to mess with, but she was rather pretty in his opinion. Kinda like that one bounty hunter girl that went after them. He couldn't remember her name now.

The Kirby's mom was headed back towards them now, so Vivi averted his gaze. He'd been getting carried away with his thoughts again! "So um.." He remembered where they were and looked to Kirby, "What brings you here? The fights?" From how much the woman had gotten it seemed more like they primarily came for the food.

Kirby was making friends. It was so cute. Bad Girl wasn't a fan of friends. They were normally really useless and meaningless. They gave you feelings. Sure, Bad Girl had feelings - mostly drunk ones - but feelings were incredibly stupid to have. She did also have feelings for Kirby, positive ones at that. It was actually something new she was trying.

Not murdering people when she first met them. It was weird, but she was cool with it. It wasn't like the UAA wasn't still giving her jobs for when she was really bored. And, she needed money to feed her son with.

She had enough food for all of them. She was willing to share, if it was something Kirby wanted.

"We're here for the fights," Bad Girl said. She caught that part of it, though she hadn't heard if there was much more to the conversation. It was hard to converse with Kirby if you didn't have an instinct to understand what he was meaning. She crouched down next to Kirby, so they were closer to each other. "Let's go find good seats." Good enough that they'd be able to see any blood that started flying. "You can share if you want."

The word share was weird for her. She didn't normally like sharing. But, she was trying to be on her best behavior because she didn't want to get kicked out before she got to see an ass whooping. She was even using her nice voice.

Oh, yes! His mom was a very pretty lady! And she wore pink! Kirby liked that very much, since he was also pink. It meant they kind of matched. Anyway, yes, they were here for the fights. There was an arena back in Dream Land where (mostly) tough fighters would get together and duke it out. Kirby had even fought in that arena, more than once.

And he made it to the top, too!

So they were here for the fights and the food, and Bad Girl seemed alright with having Vivi tag along with them. Cool! "Poyo," Kirby chirped, reaching out and tugging on one of the mage's hands. Come on, he was here to see battles at the arena too, right? He could sit with them and have some food! Food was what made the world go around!

It made sense, really, that Kirby and his mother would be here for the fights, and not for the magic as Vivi had been. From what he'd observed in the arena so far, the battles that took place were the main draw for those not from this world originally- he himself had only heard of it from a friend, and a friend that practiced magic, at that, but clearly it was not what the arena was geared towards. The small mage stumbled slightly when his hand was tugged on, but he began to follow along behind the two as they headed to the stands without any fuss.

The cheering of the other arena goers grew louder as they approached, and Vivi found himself tensing from anxiety. Something about the notion of fighting in such an enclosed space with no real way out scared him. When he watched such things, he put himself in the combatants' shoes and he found it to be entirely unpleasant. Already he had decided that once they picked their seats, he wouldn't be focussing much on the fighting, but instead would be trying to figure out how to understand Kirby better through his reactions to what went on. Perhaps learn what 'poyo' meant at some point.

He looked at Kirby quietly, relaxing ever so slightly at the realization that he was, at very least, not alone here anymore. He had a friend. It took him a moment to realize that he hadn't answered Kirby's mother before hand when she had given Kirby permission to share, and he looked down at his shoes shyly, "Thank you, Kirby's mom."

Bad Girl's destination was the main arena, where people were likely to start beating the shit out of each other at a moment's notice. That was where she wanted to be, and that was where she was assuming the children behind her were following her too. Besides, Kirby followed her everywhere when they were out together. He was likely to drag his new friend along.

And, she had all the food.

She heard the kid said something - thank you, which were words she normally didn't hear because she rarely did anything that needed to be thanked - but she waved her wave in acknowledgement. Like, fuck, kids needed to eat and she wasn't going to starve their guest. She wasn't that cruel, assassin or not.

Okay, yeah she was, but Kirby seemed to like him, so she was being nicer than she normally would have.

Bad Girl entered the main arena, where a crowd was already gathering. Her eyes landed on her desired seat, and she made her way straight there, snarling at someone who was going to sit there. The man - what a timid little fuck he was - backed away immediately, leaving the row and the one in front of it empty. Just like it would have been in Santa Destroy Stadium.

Bad Girl deposited all of her food in the row in front before sitting down in the middle seat.

"Sit down, kids, and eat up. I didn't buy all this food because I'm a fucking glutton," she said, waving her hand lazily as she grabbed a bag of... something. Some sort of candy. They didn't have it in America. Maybe it was European or something. Fuck, she didn't speak any of those languages. Either way, she ripped the bag open and poured most of its contents into her mouth.

Kirby could help his new friend out; the fighters were being announced and it had taken Bad Girl's attention away.

Kirby was delighted. He had made a new friend, they had gotten some seats in the arena and there was all this food! The puffball claimed one of the seats, although for the moment, he didn't sit down. All the food was in the row in front of them, so he wanted to grab something before he could sit. He might not even sit for very long - he would have to get up again at some point to get even more food!

Hopping up onto the back of his chosen seat, Kirby jumped to the row in front of them, landing in the pile of food. Mmm. To him, food was more interesting than the fight that was just starting. If he had been alone, all of this would be gone in mere moments and he would've gotten up to find something else to eat. But he was with his mom and his new friend, so he was able to hold back. It wouldn't be right to eat everything!

Kirby sifted through the pile, then grabbed two bags of candy and two glazed pastries of some kind, each wrapped neatly so they wouldn't stick to anything. Then he climbed up the seat and hopped back to the other row, offering Vivi one of each. Here, try these!
