Ho. Ly. Shit.

Kay hadn't known how exactly Faris was going to make her plan happen, but apparently she had a really good strategy tucked up her sleeve. Kay was super impressed, though she knew that, honestly, it shouldn't have been that impressive. Faris was clearly from a world where magic and being able to do crazy magic things was something she should probably know how to do. Even if it was some sort of magic that not everyone could do, that just meant Faris had more training or something. Like any other skill, really. Kay didn't have magic in her world, so of course she couldn't pull of the same things.

Either way, it had been an useful technique in what they were doing. Kay trusted that whatever it was that Faris had put up there wasn't going to attack them too, so she had no worries about going upward.

Just in case, though, Kay was a good swimmer.

"Coming, cap'n," she said before she grabbed the bottom of the ladder and started climbing her way up. She was careful, knowing a ladder from a boat might have been wet and she could easily slip on it without even seeing it was wet to begin with. One just needed to be really careful.

When she got on the deck, she glanced around but quickly noticed Faris' creature. "Whoa. What is it?"

"That," Faris replied, watching one of the few remaining pirates on board piss himself as the large demonic creature loomed over him, "is Ifrit." As Ifrit snarled and readied another fiery attack, the scoundrel he was currently terrorizing screamed and voluntarily removed himself from the ship. In a desperate act of bravery foolishness, another charged the monster, slashing at Ifrit with his blade. The summon simply picked him up and threw him overboard.

"Got a few other summons besides him. Syldra's one of 'em." Faris drew her blade as a man charged for her and Kay. She parried his attack, then kicked him over the railing. "While this crew's trying to come to grips with him, we'll search the ship for the booty." The chest had to be here somewhere. Hopefully, the key wasn't too far away from it. It'll be a pain in the ass to find, otherwise.

Faris approached the door leading into the ship. instead of trying to open it normally, she kicked it open, breaking its lock and knocking it off its hinges.

Ifrit? That was a cool and badass name! Kay thought she might have read the word somewhere in a book once, but she couldn't quite remember. It was totally possible that whatever she knew as an 'ifrit' was different from what it was that Faris had summoned. It was also pretty badass that Faris was able to summon at all. Kay wasn't even sure if she understood it, but it seemed like a really useful skill to her.

"Right!" Kay said, turning away from watching the carnage that Ifrit was wrecking.

Faris had kicked in the door, and Kay bent a bit as she stuck her head in, looking around to see if she could see or hear anyone. There was no one there from what she could tell. She assumed the captain of this vessel had gone ashore with the other pirates, probably not wanting to sit idle while the other members of his crew were reaping the rewards. She read before that pirates liked to mutiny - and could easily do so because they ran on a democracy - when they found their captain useless. If a captain sat on the ship all the time, then that kind of made him useless.

Or, so Kay thought.

"It's clear," she said before slipping inside. Because of the natural daylight, it was well lit in the room. She wasn't able to see anything out of the ordinary. Not on first sight, anyways.

"Stay alert," said Faris as she stepped inside. "There still might be a guard lazing about." Even if the door had been locked and most of the crew was currently in a state of panic, someone might still be in here, guarding the chest, key or both. Blade in hand, the captain started checking each room and storage area she came across, searching for the treasure that would end today's chaos.

They had no time to waste. The Goddess' time limit aside, Ifrit's rampage on the deck would undoubtedly draw the pirates ashore back to their ship. If they weren't a bunch of sissies, anyway. They might just stay clear.

Faris soon arrived at the sleeping quarters for the crew. On the far side was the chest, looking rather out of place among the worn hammocks and plain wooden crates and furniture. The captain paused as she surveyed the area. There wasn't anyone in sight. "Here's the chest..." Now, where was the key? Was it somewhere around here?

Okay okay okay.

They were now in the area where the chest and key probably were. It was still a possibility that a guard might have been lurking around somewhere, waiting to give them trouble. Or, maybe possibly taking a nap because he didn't want to be involved in what was going on on the shoreline. She wouldn't have put it past some pirate to hide out so he didn't need to get his hands dirty. This looked like a large crew; that meant it was possible that they might not have noticed that someone could have been missing.

Kay would have noticed, of course. She had a team at school that was larger than this pirate crew. Tankery was super popular, and Saunders was one of the premier schools that competed at a worldwide level. Almost all the girls wanted to take part in the team, and Kay wasn't the sort of person who just turned people away because they weren't naturally skilled at it. After all, practice made perfect!

As she hunted the room, Faris said she found the chest. Kay glanced over before she kept looking. They had one piece of the puzzle. Now they needed another one.

Kay noticed a small hole in the wall - one that was slightly too high for her to be able to look inside. She frowned and tried hopping, but she still couldn't see or reach it.

"Hey, cap'n?" she said, pointing up at it. Faris was taller than her; maybe she could reach it.

Hm? Kay was pointing to a hole in the wall. Faris stepped over. It didn't look like a natural hole in the wood; it almost seemed like somebody put it there on purpose. Faris peered inside, although she had to stand on her toes in order to do so. "See a glint of something..." she muttered as she stepped back. "Let me see if I can pry it open."

With that, she slammed her blade in between the planks of the wall, then started prying them apart. The planks held for a moment, then there was a snap as some of the nails let go. Gold coins, gemstones and other such treasure started pouring out from the space behind the wall, piling up around their feet.

"This is where they're keeping their booty?" It was a little unconventional, yet Faris saw how it could be effective. After all, nobody would be looking for tiny little holes to reveal treasure. They should've put it in something, though, so it wouldn't make a mess like this. Normally, a pirate having treasure just given to them like this would start grabbing whatever they could, but Faris started searching for the key instead. That was far more important right now.

Kay half-skipped as she moved out of the way. She wanted to make sure she didn't get in the way - and didn't accidentally get hit with that sword! - and still be able to see what was going on. She watched, fascinated, as Faris pried the boards loose, scattering the pirate crew's treasure everywhere. Kay stepped back as a few pieces of it rolled towards her feet.

She gave one glance at the door before she crouched down by the treasure. There was a lot of it. That had seemed liked such an odd spot to keep one's treasure, but if they managed to fit it all, then maybe it had been a good idea.

Or, it hadn't been since Kay had thought the hole had looked suspicious and that was why it was all over the floor now. Oh well.

"The key's gotta be here, right?" Kay said as she started rooting through the gold. There was so much of it. "There's no one else they would put something valuable, right?"

"They have other places that they could hide their booty, yet everything valuable seems to be right here." Sheathing her blade for now, Faris crouched and sorted through the treasure. "The key's likely hidden somewhere in this mess." Her fingers ran across the coins and gems and she was very tempted to start pocketing them, yet she held back. They had a time limit and she wasn't about to screw everything up just because of her greed.

Nothing she found on the surface of the pile resembled a key at all, so Faris dug deeper. Her fingers hooked on a ring of some sort and she pulled them out. Lo and behold, the key - just as shiny as the treasure it was hidden in - dangled from the ring she now held.

"Got it." The captain stood up and went over to the chest. "Good work, lass. Not sure just how this would've went down without that plan of yours to sneak over here." It would've ended up a lot more chaotic, Faris supposed. "With those smarts, you're goin' to go far, I reckon."

As Faris opened the chest, she found it empty, yet she wasn't surprised - that was how it was supposed to be. "Never felt good about opening an empty chest before." No pirate wanted to open an empty chest. "But I'm guessing there's a first for everything."

Kay sifted through the treasure, trying to locate a key. It was a little more difficult for her to probably pick it out in comparison to Faris. Faris probably saw all sorts of treasure all the time, being a pirate captain and all, so she was probably able to recognize what something was at a quick glance.

She bet people who were really good at puzzles were good at doing stuff like that. They would have to be able to see the puzzle pieces they had, especially if it was something really big like a thousand pieces. They would have to be able to spot the piece they needed.

Kay would never be good at something like that.

"Oh!" Kay hopped up onto her feet once Faris said she found the key. Bouncing from foot to foot, she waited until the chest was open. Even from where she was, she could see it was empty. Oh well. She had figured as much was going to happen, considering the entire point was simply to open the chests.

"Let's go!" she said once that was done. She ran for the door, swinging it open. There was no one on deck - except Faris' fire dude - but that was fine. She was sure the Goddess was going to do something about the raid now that the mission was over. She went for the ladder and quickly started down it back to the fishing boat they had commandeered earlier.
