A roar shook the ground below as the huge shadow overhead rushed by. Some of the infected heard the sound and they attempted to give chase, but they only did so in vain. It was impossible to catch a dragon once he was in flight.

On his way to a less dreary place, Durnehviir was passing through this area. By now, he had learned all there was to learn about the undead that prowled this landscape, and he would prefer not to turn to the local city for entertainment. Not that he was afraid of their arsenal - he had very little to be afraid of when it came to human weapons - but he did not want the mortals to give him a reason to raze the entire place.

A dragon's only response towards a city that offended him was to destroy it, and he felt like that would take away from the variety of this world. Also, it would probably offend the Goddess. Remaining on her good side was a dance he was willing to take part in, since she had been generous enough to free him from his wretched prison and allowed him to roam her world's skies.

Durnehviir scanned the land below for something of interest. Sight, sound, smell and soul. Despite appearances, his senses were still extremely sharp. If there was something to be found here, then he would find it before he was able to reach this zone's boundaries.

Sagiri
© Jessica // CURRENTLY Offline

When Sagiri arrived in the city of Kijuju, she heard about how there was a campaign to help thin out some of the zombies who roamed the plains there. For some reason, they had increased in number since coming to this world. Sagiri surmised that it was probably because the Goddess didn't want them running out so there were no undead out there, and she thought it was far more interesting to have them. There might not be enough people getting bitten and turned for her liking.

Sagiri didn't agree with killing when unnecessary, but she also knew they were already dead. She also found attacking the bodies to be a disrespect to them, but when those bodies were being controlled by something the living person most likely didn't want, then it should be okay. Sagiri found dealing with the undead such a group of contradictions. It was odd to think about.

But, she agreed to join the hunt on the undead since she was already there. It was why she was now found in the marshy, swampy lands of the Autonomous Zone, slaying the undead. Her kunai cut through them easily, though it seemed like they were starting to rot so there was no surprises there. She only paused when a shadow came overhead.

"Oh, a dragon," she said, looking up at it. She was going to go back to work, but she realized that dragon looked familiar to her.

Durnehviir had sensed the soul before he saw who it belonged to - a lone human in the midst of so many rotting corpses. As he got closer, he realized who it was. Sagiri was a peculiar human being, but she was among the very few he considered his friends in this world. While this was an odd place to find her, he felt no surprise from it.

Roaring again, he began to circle around the area, waiting for a sign that Sagiri recognized him. It was very likely that she would - no other undead dragon roamed the planet quite as freely as he did - but still, Durnehviir wanted to make sure. It was a precaution he was willing to take to avoid Sagiri throwing her weapons at his eyes. What was left of his eyes, at least - they were affected by the same decay that had taken over the rest of his physical form.

The dragon could still see. The actual state of his body was more like a trivial matter now, after those long years in the Soul Cairn had changed him.

Sagiri
© Jessica // CURRENTLY Offline

After another moment of looking up at the dragon flying above her, Sagiri was able to recognize him. There wasn't a whole lot of rotting and decaying zombie dragons flying around the world, though if there was a world where they belonged it was probably this one. It was an interesting world that had so many interesting beings that one most likely wouldn't find in their home world.

Durnehviir, the dragon above her, was definitely one of them.

Sagiri raised a hand up and gave a small wave, though she didn't speak. She was sure he'd be able to see the motion, even if he was so far above her. Dragons probably had better eyesight than humans anyways. Training eyesight wasn't something she was able to do as easily as train her other senses, and she was sure she'd be able to see such a wave.

She hoped he would land, though. It would be nice to speak with him again.

Sagiri recognized him. Good. Durnehviir would be offended if she of all people was unable to recognize him. She was human, yet she was clever and possessed sharp senses. The dragon also found her to be pleasant to converse with, even if some of her kind would disagree with the way she spoke. Sagiri might be a little on the unusual side, but it made no difference to him. He, too, was unusual.

Circling one more time, Durnehviir swooped in, careful not to blow Sagiri over as he landed. His talons sank into the soft ground, but he was certain that it would hold him. No dragon in their right mind would choose to put themselves in a vulnerable spot on unstable ground. If he had thought that he would sink down, then he would have never landed.

"Drem Yol Lok, fahdon," he greeted. "I am pleased to see you again." An odd place for running into a friend, yes, but such encounters were the norm in this world.

Sagiri waited, keeping her stance easy looking though she was bracing herself for when Durnehviir landed. She knew he would never do it intentionally - at least not to her as they were on good terms - but dragons were large and there was always a chance of being knocked aside during the force of their landing. Luckily, Sagiri was nothing more than ruffled by the air pushed out by him.

"Hello," she said in reply. She didn't quite understand what he said at first, being as it was in his dragon tongue and all, but she assumed it was some sort of greeting. She wasn't going to ask about it, as it didn't seem to be important to the conversation they were starting as a whole. "It' good to see you again, too."

And, she meant that. She hoped Durnehviir was able to tell, even if her face frozen in the smile that it was stuck in.

"What brings you here?" she asked. "You're not here to fight the zombies too, are you?" Would the people here in Kijuju choose to hire a dragon for this task? She felt it would seem like an odd choice for them.

Durnehviir

It was nice to hear Sagiri's words. Many people would not consider a meeting with Durnehviir to be good in any way. They either fled or tried to attack him. That was one of the reasons why he liked Sagiri. She did not flee, she did not attack him and he could be certain that what she said was honest. She was trustworthy enough to be his friend.

"To be truthful, I am on my way out of this dreary place," he responded. "I have witnessed everything there is, and I feel that a change of scenery is in order." It was not nearly as bad as the Soul Cairn, but if he spent too much time here, it would not be good for his mood. Like mortals, dragons were prone to bouts of moodiness.

That was a remarkable flaw in creatures who thought themselves as perfect beings. But Durnehviir had spent far too much time in the Soul Cairn to care about it.

"Although I may be willing to postpone my departure..." he added, peering at Sagiri, "if a certain fahdon of mine would benefit from the use of my wings."

Sagiri

Ah, Durnehviir was on his way out of this place. Sagiri couldn't blame him. It was a bit dreary here. Sagiri thought that Kijuju was one of the gloomiest places in the world. Even when it was sunny out, it never seemed cheerful. Having walking undead around certainly wasn't helping it in any which way. The place didn't have much color to it anyways.

It was kind of a sad place, wasn't it?

Was Durnehviir offering to help her, though? She wasn't quite sure. Sometimes, she needed to decipher her way through words because she wasn't as good with speaking as others, and she didn't know how to mask what she said in such a way. She wasn't sure if that was what Durnehviir meant to do. It seemed like dragons just spoke that way.

"Wings are always nice to have," Sagiri remarked. "I'm supposed to take out a few of these to help the cityfolk, and wings would be nice." They could certainly make Sagiri's work go faster, and the faster she completed that, the faster she could go home.

So she was lending her assistance to the mortals living here. Durnehviir could understand why they would like to weed out the undead from time to time. Left unchecked, they could grow in number, claiming the foolish who attempted to explore this landscape unprepared. Unlike the darkspawn, those mortals unlucky enough to get infected by these creatures did not just waste away and die - they became them.

"Then you may have the use of mine for a time," he replied. Durnehviir had carried Sagiri before, and he would not mind doing so again. Unless she preferred to remain on the ground while he helped her from the air, but he would not recommend that. It would be faster and safer for her to fly. "And my Thu'um, as well. Our prey here will have no choice but to perish."

For good, this time. Unlike Durnehviir, these undead had no way to rise again. They were inferior compared to him, who could reconstruct himself after taking a fatal blow, even if it came from Qahnaarin.

Sagiri

Ah, Durnehviir was going to help Sagiri with his wings like she had hoped. She knew she would be able to cover more ground if she was in the air on his back than if she was trying to walk her way around. She was faster than a typical human, but it was still not going to be as good as wings.

"If you don't mind carrying me," Sagiri said, "that would be nice. We can find larger groups and you can drop me into them. It will be much quicker than me trying to walk around and find them." From ground level, it was far more difficult to spot them from a distance. In the air, it would be easier to spot a moving horde.

Sagiri's senses almost tingled and she was aware a pair of zombies were moving towards her. She went to them quickly, dispatching them with each. She buried her kunai in each of their heads, causing them to drop, before she pulled them free and wiped them clean on her jacket. She was going to have to wash the jacket when she was done here. There was more blood and gore on it than she would have liked.

She returned to Durnehviir now that there were no more zombies in her immediate vicinity. Yes, flight would help her find them more quickly.

Drop her into larger groups? A risky plan, for her at least. But if that was what Sagiri wanted, then Durnehviir would do what she asked. Unlike many mortals, her survival and killing instincts had been honed, her fangs sharp. Even so, the dragon would make sure to keep an eye on her, for he would not like to see her perish from such inferior creatures.

Two of the undead came shambling towards them and Durnehviir waited as Sagiri dispatched them both. They were clearly targeting the human. From what he had learned about them, they only noticed him if he was moving. If he remained on the ground and went still, silencing his ragged breathing, the creatures would wander by and not attack him, even if they were just a foot away from his nose.

They chased after him whenever he flew over their heads, however. That would surely be helpful to Sagiri - they could lure these decaying beings, possibly to a more beneficial area to attack them in.

"Climb onto me and we will take to the sky," he said when she returned. "And then, we shall hunt."
