Outside, it was raining.

That was probably why Calcifer and Wilson were inside of the bed and breakfast they had discovered near Silent Hill. While making their trip from Saturn Valley, they had agreed to take a berth around the town of Silent Hill, seeing as there were some really weird things that apparently happened there. But, the rain clouds had drifted in overhead and they had to seek shelter in the nearest location.

Which happened to be Sakitani Kinenkan, as the sign had said. Calcifer didn't know what that had meant, but the place seemed relatively okay and so he had deemed it safe of danger. He hadn't heard any weird or spooky things about this place. Being out in the forest away from the town as it was, he wondered just how many people knew it even existed. He hadn't recalled seeing a sign, but, of course, they hadn't exactly been following the road either.

He wondered just how many people could have not been put in danger if they had come to stay here, as opposed to seeking a bed in the town.

There weren't too many people here with Calcifer now. He had paid for a room with the money Aden had given him, just in case the rain would last the night. One of the workers even agreed to carry his wagon upstairs, as he wouldn't have been able to get up, even with Wilson pulling him.

And, now he found himself in a little bit of a lounge room, sitting by a roaring fire. It might have been a silly sight, a fire enjoying a fire. But, it was relaxing, and that was just what Calcifer needed right now. Wilson had even climbed into the wagon, wrapped up in a small blanket that a worker had given him.

Yep, this was a good way to pass a rainy evening.

Lucina

The swordswoman entered the bed and breakfast, water dripping off her hair and the bottom edge of her cape. Her Pokemon companion had been tucked safely into the cozy confines of her Pokeball, leaving the young woman to brave the weather on her own. Lucina didn't mind, for Vivillon's safety was of higher priority than her own.

She recalled their last visit to this bed and breakfast. Bad Girl, and the mystery surrounding this establishment. The dark secrets it held. And pancakes.

Lucina was thinking of pancakes right now, even though she was certain that they weren't on the menu during these hours. Someone had brought her some towels so she could dry off and minutes later, she had a room paid for and was ushered into the lounge room, a steaming mug of hot chocolate bringing back the feeling in her chilled hands. She held the mug carefully as she walked further into the room, noting that there were only a few people present. The most noticeable visitors weren't human - a small fire and some kind of sheep creature, both tucked into a wagon sitting close to the much larger fire warming the room.

"Good evening," Lucina greeted them politely, before she occupied a nearby armchair. The sound of the flames were almost enough to drown out the rain pelting on the building's roof. She listened for a moment, then took a sip of her drink.

Calcifer barely registered that someone else had come into the lounge until they sat down nearby and spoke. It was a polite greeting, which suggested to Calcifer that this person wasn't a threat to him.

The person in question was a woman, a young woman, and she was dressed in a way that suggested she was a warrior. Calcifer noted that she looked like a well-off warrior, as none of her attire was torn and ragged in the way that someone who had to scrape pennies and fight for a living because they didn't have many options had. Maybe she was of noble birth. Calcifer had occasionally seen nobles, but not a whole lot of them.

Being in a hearth a lot meant you didn't get out a lot.

But, she seemed friendly enough so Calcifer raised himself up so his facial features were more noticeable.

"Hello," he said, keeping his voice small and pleasant. "Did you just come in from the rain? Is it still coming down really hard out there?" He couldn't see the window very well from where he was, so he wasn't able to make it out himself.

When she was able to see the fire's face better, Lucina smiled slightly. Aww, he was cute! She had never seen anything like him before, but she assumed that like any other fire, having water poured onto him would be quite dangerous. No wonder, then, that he and his sheep friend were staying in here, where it was warm and dry.

"I did," she replied, nodding. "And it's still pouring rather heavily. I might have passed by the town completely had the weather been more pleasant." Silent Hill was not a place Lucina wanted to spend too much time in. But she also didn't want to spend the night wandering through the rain, and she did like this bed and breakfast, despite its dark history.

"I'm glad to have reached this place before it could get any worse." Lightning, or even heavier rain. Neither was good for travelers. They would just have to wait it out here.

Ah, so it was still pouring out there? Calcifer wasn't sure he liked that. He didn't know how long he'd be able to stay here, but he knew they wouldn't be able to go outside right away, even if the rain stopped. The ground would have to dry first before Calcifer even ventured out there. The wagon might get stuck in the muck, and if the road was muddy enough, it might be hard for Wilson to walk since he was still on the small side. They would pretty much be stuck if there was no one to help them get back to Ymir.

"It's a good thing you came inside then," Calcifer said. "You'll be able to get dry next to a good fire." His voice was still on the small and pleasant side. It was typically how he spoke to strangers. He wasn't sure how the people in this world would take someone like him, so he never wanted to do anything that might make them aggravated at him. He was a fire. As much as he had some strength to him because he was part-demon, part-star, he was still able to get put out by a good bucket of water, unless he took his star form and that form was tiring for him to keep.

He paused, looking at Wilson who was nuzzling his nose against the warm blanket that had been given to him, before he turned to look at the woman again.

"I'm Calcifer," he said. "He's Wilson." He knew the dangers of someone knowing his true name - witches were a tricky lot - but he didn't see the harm in it this time. She didn't look like a witch to him.

"I'm lucky to arrive here when I did," Lucina agreed. Nobody should be out in this weather, no matter how tough they were. The only thing to do was to find somewhere warm and dry to stay until it passed. The only reason why Lucina would go back out there now was if an urgent matter arose, especially if it involved someone in need of help.

The small fire introduced himself and his friend, and Lucina thought that their names quite matched them.

"Pleased to meet you," she replied. "My name is Lucina." She didn't bother with titles or anything like that because this was simply some friendly banter. She was a royal and she did have a reputation of sorts on this continent for being one of the tougher opponents one could face at Arena Ferox. But it wasn't particularly important information that everyone must know, and she found it easier for people to talk to her when they didn't know those things.

Calcifer

Lucina was a pretty name, or so that was what Calcifer thought. He wasn't familiar with human naming conventions all that much. He only had interactions with a few numbers. The number had increased since he had come here. Before he had come to this world, he was segregated to the castle, which he had been fine with but that meant that he was a little less knowledgeable in otherwise basic things. Like names.

Calcifer hunkered down a bit. It was nice being warm. Some people might have found it odd that a fire could feel cold at all, but it was most definitely possible. Calcifer had felt it in several occasions. The thing was if he got too cold, then it would have turned out bad for him. He might have even gotten put out.

Which was why he was happy to be by the fireplace as well.

One of the staff members - a matronly woman - came in, making her way over. Calcifer glanced up at her as she nodded to him and Wilson, and then to Lucina.

"Would you dears like some hot cocoa?" she asked. "It could be very nice on a day like today."

"I still have some, milady," Lucina replied, lifting her mug, "but it was quite kind of you to ask." She still had much of her drink in her mug, but seeing as the woman addressed all three of them, she was obliged to reply. The woman was quite right about it, though - Lucina couldn't think of anything else she would rather drink during this weather than this warm, sweet and chocolatey brew.

And the marshmallows. Lucina could drink hot chocolate without them, but there was just something special about having little marshmallows float on the surface of one's mug.

"The two of you should try it, though," she then added, looking at Calcifer and Wilson. "It's delicious." It did occur to Lucina that maybe small fires and sheep creatures weren't supposed to drink anything with cocoa in it. But she had seen a lot of different creatures enjoy the same kind of food that people did, so maybe it was okay.

Calcifer glanced up at the lady before looking over at Lucina. She had some of the hot cocoa from the bed and breakfast, and she said it tasted really good. Calcifer didn't drink a lot of liquids because he needed to be really careful with what he drank anything at all. He didn't need to drink, but he still liked it. That meant he needed to make sure he didn't accidentally put himself out

Because that would be a problem.

"We'd like some," he said, looking back to the lady. He made sure to keep his polite tone of voice. He wasn't rude, unless he had to be. "If you could give Wilson a straw too, that would be nice." It would make it easier for Wilson to drink if he had a straw. He also really liked straws; that was something Calcifer discovered.

The lady bobbed her head in a nod before leaving to get them some.

Lucina smiled and took a sip from her mug, her eyes returning to the flames in the fireplace before them. The combined warmth of the drink and the fire was enough to drive away any remaining chill she had from her travels. And she was in good company, too. This was, in her opinion, the perfect way to spend this cold and rainy night.

The woman from the staff soon returned with hot cocoa for both Calcifer and Wilson, carefully setting the mugs down where they could reach them before taking her leave.

"I really do like these marshmallows..." Lucina commented as she glanced into her own mug. Mostly, she said it for the sake of conversation, and she hoped that it didn't sound too weird, coming from her. Sometimes, people looked at her strangely when she made honest remarks such as that. She knew it was because she could be downright serious at times.

But she wasn't like that all the time.

It might have been an odd thing for a fire to say, but Calcifer felt snug. Because he was pretty snug, even in his lantern. The lantern that Aden had found him was pretty comfy for him. It was no hearth, but he had one of those back on the farm, just like he had one in Howl's castle. It was where he was normally when he was at home. Either one of his homes. He considered both of them his home now.

The lady returned with the cocoa, and Calcifer opened his lantern door so he could reach for his mug. He shuffled so he sat on he edge of the lantern, half sitting out of it. His fiery hands took a hold of the mug, and he carefully lifted it so he could sip it. He didn't want to burn the mug, though he knew his tongue wouldn't be burnt in return. He couldn't be burnt.

Wilson also grabbed his mug, sitting in in front of him as he happily slurped at his straw.

"You're right," Calcifer said to Lucina as he placed his mug back down. "It does taste really good."

It was interesting to see Calcifer open his lantern and reach out for the mug. The mug didn't burn or was otherwise affected by fire suddenly touching it, so Lucina assumed that he was able to hold onto things safely. That must have been quite helpful. She thought it would be rude to stare at him for too long, however, and she went back to watching the larger fire in the fireplace before long.

She did look at him again once he commented that the hot cocoa tasted good.

"Doesn't it?" she smiled. "I wish I can make hot cocoa that tasted even half this good." Did they use a mix, or did they make it from scratch? Often, taking the longer way when preparing food paid off more, although not always. It depended on what food or drink was being prepared, the methods in preparing it and the skill of the cook.

"I suppose I still have a lot to learn about preparing food and drink." At least she didn't break as many microwaves as she used to, and she was confident that she could now use the oven on the Axolotl without causing anything to catch on fire. Lucina knew for certain that Wes was relieved that she was improving.

Calcifer

Calcifer had to agree. He wished he knew how this hot cocoa was made. Not because he was willing to make it. He simply couldn't. He was able to hold mugs and the like, but he wasn't able to do the tasks that would allow him to make it on his own. But, he did have a human back home who was probably willing to make it for him and some of the animals.

Calcifer glanced at Wilson, who was still happily drinking his own hot cocoa. There was a lot for the small Wooly, but Calcifer didn't doubt that Wilson was going to be able to drink it all. He could be a bit of a glutton when he had the sort of food that he liked, and it was very clear that he liked the hot cocoa. If Calcifer didn't finish his own, it might be a case of Wilson trying to sneak his straw into Calcifer's mug.

Calcifer would probably let him too.

"Maybe they'll share the recipe," Calcifer said, looking at Lucina. He took another sip of his hot cocoa. Yeah, he would really like it. He was sure Aden would like it too. Maybe if they didn't share the recipe, they could come back here together.

"I'd like to ask about it and see if it isn't a secret recipe," Lucina nodded. "If it is and they prefer to keep it to themselves... then that's simply another reason for me to return here." That and the pancakes. This bed and breakfast did have some kind of dark history, yet none of it had really surfaced. She didn't mind coming back here again, as long as Silent Hill was behaving.

Besides, most of the Network seemed to avoid the town. She understood why, but they needed someone to check it out once in a while, and they couldn't just send Ammy to scout all the high-risk areas all the time. Lucina was the only one who officially lived on the Eastern Continent. If anyone had to venture into Silent Hill from time to time, it might as well be her.

"I also really like the pancakes they make here. In a way, the rain has been a blessing in disguise." Otherwise, Lucina wouldn't have a reason to stay here overnight, so she wouldn't have gotten a chance to eat them again. And she also wouldn't have met Calcifer and Wilson; their company had already made the trip through the rain worthwhile.

Calcifer nodded. He hoped for the recipe too. He was glad that Lucina thought the same thing. Maybe if both of them asked, they would be more willing to give the recipe for them. Maybe if Wilson looked up at them with his big cute eyes.

Calcifer glanced over at Wilson. He was happily drinking away. He would finish his hot cocoa soon, Calcifer was sure. Then, the fire was likely to get a straw poking into his own mug. That was okay, but Calcifer wanted to have some more before he had to share. So, he picked up his mug and drank some more out of it.

Aah, delicious.

"Pancakes?" Calcifer asked, curious. "I haven't had their pancakes. Are they really good?" He paused, looking at Wilson whose interest had been piqued by the mention of pancakes. Sometimes, Aden made them pancakes, but homemade pancakes were always made differently. Calcifer would like to try some.

"You... don't suppose... they would make them at this time for day, do you?"
