Kay whooped in victory as the lead bird robot and all its minions seemed to be disabled. It looked like they had done it! Victor was theirs!

....Wait a moment.

"What's it doing?" Kay asked, leaning forward so she was able to see what was going on even better. It looked like the other robots were merging with the main one so they could form some sort of super robot. Kay's eyes widened. It was kind of cool to see this sort of thing in person. She watched a lot of giant robot movies (plus her fair share of sentai series too!) so the idea behind it was something she was very familiar with. It normally meant they were going full power now.

Kay bit her lip. It took them a bit to get to this point. Would they be able to deal with the next round without much difficulty?

They wouldn't know unless they tried!

"Let's do this!" Kay announced. She stuck her tongue out between her teeth as she carefully tried to aim. This was going to be harder. They needed to figure out where it was weak. Then, BAM! Victory!

Kirby was glad that he ended up with a co-pilot on this flight. If he was still flying on his own, then he would've had to dodge and shoot at the same time. While he was able to do that during normal trips, this bird was becoming pretty bothersome to deal with. A lot of their shots on it just seemed to bounce off its feathers, which wasn't good.

A weak point... where could it possibly be?

Maneuvering so his jet didn't get slashed into pieces by the boss robot's talons, Kirby watched as the Robobot Armor's projectiles struck it. The missiles were capable of clipping off some of the metal feathers, but that didn't seem to hinder its ability to fly. Maybe if they could target its engines somehow...

As he made another circle around, one shot deflected off the boss' body and went right into its eye. It flinched. Kirby's eyes lit up and with a yell of determination, he flew the jet straight towards the bird's head.

Aim for the eyes!

Weakness, weakness, weakness... There were so many places on the bird's body that Kay thought could possibly be the bird's weakness, but who knew which one was the right. They could waste so much time trying to aim for specific things. That was probably why Kay was just trying to blast as much of it as she possibly could. Eventually, she was bound to hit something, right?

Her strategy must have worked because the puffball let out an exclamation and started going straight for the robot bird's head. Kay only just managed to see what it was he was aiming for - its eye! That was the exact place that would make the most sense of a weakness! Kay knew exactly where to aim for.

"I just need one good shot..." she murmured, closing one eye as she aimed. She was not going to screw this up. Nope, she was definitely not going to screw this up.

She waited until they were close... and then she fired!

The blast hit the bird square in the eye, and she knew with the close range in which she was able to shoot meant that even more damage was going to be done.

They got it! Kirby evaded the explosion that erupted when his co-pilot shot at one of the bird's eyes. That definitely did some damage! The robot screamed and tilted to the side, as if it completely lost its balance now that one of its eyes was gone. It spat more energy beams from its beak, but Kirby easily dodged all of them. They weren't being aimed properly, maybe because now it couldn't see very well.

Time to get the other eye!

Circling around again, Kirby weaved around more energy beams, dipping out of reach when the robot bird snapped at him. The rush he felt as that huge beak snapped just above his jet was almost like a thunderclap. It could've gotten them if it had been able to see better! Kirby zipped the Robobot Armor right up along its blind side, then flew over its head in an arc, turning the jet so it was facing the bird's undamaged eye.

"WHOOOOO!" Kay let out a long whoop, letting good of the controls she was using momentarily to throw her hands up in the air in celebration. Her celebration was short-lived, though, because she still had some work to do. After all, like a lot of creatures - organic or robotic - it had two eyes. That meant two weak points. They only handled one so far, so they needed to take another.

Kay grabbed a hold of the controls again and went back to aiming. Just like before, she needed to wait for the perfect moment to shoot it.

Kay closed her one eye and stuck her tongue out between her teeth, concentrating until they were just a head of the robot. She waited and waited until it was almost close enough to attack them. And, then she fired, nailing it right in the eye, just like before.

"Take that, you piece of scrap metal!" she shouted at it, her voice partially cut off by the explosion.

Like before, attacking this eye caused it to explode, forcing Kirby to flee from the blast. That meant he wasn't able to see what happened to the robot bird, but as he turned the jet around again and the smoke cleared, he could see that the big boss robot was now missing its head. It went limp and fell lifeless from the sky, damaged pieces of metal falling from its body.

The robot hit the ground with a thud. Kirby circled the Robobot Armor around a few times, then he descended. They had to make sure it was really dead this time, but also, he was curious to know why it was here in the first place. It wasn't everyday that he got to fight a flock of robotic birds that could combine into an even larger robotic bird! There had to be a reason for it.

Landing the jet a short (and hopefully safe) distance away from the destroyed boss, Kirby let his machine slow to a stop. The puffball then hopped out of his seat and onto the ground, carefully waddling over to the robot. It was definitely dead, so he wouldn't have to poke it with a stick.

So where did it come from? Did someone really liked making angry robot birds for whatever reason, or was there more to it than that?

Kay felt relief as the robot went down. Hopefully, this time it was going to stay down. She kept her hands on the controls because she didn't want to be caught napping on the job, so to speak. If it was going to suddenly pop back up again, she was going to be on her toes. She was going to be ready for it!

Fortunately, that didn't seem to be the case as the puffball was able to land his aircraft nearby to the robot. Kay waited as he got out before she unstrapped herself from the aircraft and got out as well. Her legs were stiff from being cramped in there, but other than that, she felt all right. It was nice to have her feet on the ground as well, especially after being whisked off them against her will. It worked out for the best, though.

Kay went over to the robot and crouched by it, though she made sure she was an arm's length away so it wouldn't be able to attack her.

"I wonder what it was up to and who built it," she said. "It looks decommissioned right now, but I bet one could fix it." She chewed her lip in thought. "It would probably be best to take it apart and see what's making it tick. We might be able to figure out who made it too." Stuffy makers often left a maker's mark on things they built. Maybe the person who built this did that too.

The only person Kirby could think of who would even make something like this and then set it loose was Doctor Eggman, and this clearly wasn't his work. It was someone else. Kirby went ahead and picked through the pieces. There were a lot of pieces. Getting shot at with missiles and then falling and crashing into the ground would do that to you.

At least it couldn't recombine once it was all smashed up! That would be bad.

Not much of the bird's head remained - it did take two shots to its eyes, which exploded. Kirby had better luck with its body. There were parts here that were from the smaller birds the robot was formed from. They had all transformed and folded up in different ways in order to make the larger bird. But there were some parts that were unique, and he figured that they were the most important things.

Kirby grabbed onto the frame of something and hauled it out of the wreckage. This... looked like a computer system of some kind. Maybe? He didn't know a lot about computers.

Kay joined with Kirby in poking around at the things that made up the bird. She could see where parts belonged to the other birds before they formed up to help strengthen this one. It was interesting to see just how they were all able to connect together like they did. She wasn't sure if she was able to build something so complex, but she could also admit to herself that most of her knowledge in mechanics came down to vehicles like tanks and cars. She wasn't sure she would be able to put together so complex.

She could probably build a car, though, if she was given the materials.

Kay pulled something out of the wreckage. It was a piece of metal and there was something stamped onto it but she couldn't really make out what exactly it was supposed to be. It was some sort of symbol, that much was clear. Anything beyond that, she wasn't sure.

She stuck her lips out as she thought before she stood up, tucking it under her arm.

"This one looks like it has a mark on it," Kay said. "I'm gonna take it home and see if I can research it." The internet working in this world was pretty much the best thing ever, even if it didn't work quite like the internet back home. For one, it couldn't connect to that internet, so no one was able to email anyone back home. But, she could still research information that people here put up on it.

"Do you think we should clean the rest of this up?" There was probably power supplies in there. They should take that too.

A mark? That might help them figure out who built the bird. Kirby wasn't really sure where to start looking, though. It seemed that the girl might, so he would just leave it up to her. That would be a better idea than him wandering around the world trying to find something that matched it.

Anyway, they were standing with a bunch of broken robot pieces around them. It was probably a bad idea to just leave everything here where someone could come by and hurt themselves on something. Dragging the computer system over to his Robobot Armor, he left it a short distance away and hopped back into the cockpit. He pressed a button on the dashboard and the jet changed again, adding a third seat.

It was this new seat that Kirby stashed the computer in. Then he returned to the wreckage to see if there was anything else that might be useful. The puffball could probably just inhale everything and either swallow it or spit it out into space, but he wasn't going to try that until he and the girl were both sure they had everything they wanted to salvage.

Kay wasn't quite sure what else there was they could use, but Kay went through the parts anyways. She felt some more stuff that she could actually probably put to use if she wanted to build something, but the rest looked like it was broken enough that it was nothing more than scrap metal. She didn't want to leave any of it here, though, because then that meant someone else had to deal with it and Kay wasn't someone who liked having people clean up after her.

Most of the time. Sometimes, her mother needed to deal with her leaving her laundry all over her bedroom floor. She was betting her bedroom looked pretty clean right now without her there!

"I think I got everything that can be used," Kay said, standing up with all her choices in her arms. She was holding them precariously, but she didn't seem to notice. She wasn't going to drop them, nosiree! "We need to figure out what to deal with all this scrap. Then," she added as an afterthought, "maybe get some food. I've worked up an appetite."

Kirby collected a few things that might be useful and placed them in the third seat. Some of it, he wasn't even sure what it was for, but Bad Girl might find some use for it. She was very resourceful! The puffball was quite proud of his mom.

That did leave a bunch of scrap metal that couldn't really be used for anything. Kirby looked it over, then waved for the girl to pack up what she found in the jet with the rest of it. They could just sort through it again once they were back in Santa Destroy. Once he was sure that there was nothing else in the wreckage but junk, he stepped forward and opened his mouth wide.

In went all the remaining pieces. Down into his stomach, probably never to see the light of day again!

It wasn't enough to fill his belly, though. Not after the girl mentioned food! Kirby turned and waddled back to her, looking up at her with a smile. Once they got everything packed up, they could jump back into their seats and fly home for some tasty treats!

"Oh, okay, gotcha." Kay was sure she understood what he meant when he wanted her to place her things with his in the third seat. It was kind of cool how his robot thing was able to make new seats like this. Super convenient and all that jazz. Kay would love a car like that, and it wasn't even the same as something simplistic like putting the back seats down for more space. It was something way cooler.

She went to the backseat and deposited her stuff there, making it clatter as it banged together with some of the other stuff. She knew which ones were hers though, so there wouldn't be any problem when she wanted to sort it down. She considered that they needed to call a clean-up crew or something. She turned to address it to the puffball, only he had sucked up the rest into his belly.

Kay stared blankly at him for only a moment.

"That works too," she said as she recovered. "Come on, lunch is on me." She climbed back into the seat she had occupied for their battle. Time for some grub!
